Jun. 28th, 2008 06:04 pm1. What are you afraid of / what are your phobias?
The big one is bridges over water. Long, high ones in particular. Hearing about things like the interstate bridge collapse in Minnesota can give me incredibly vivid nightmares for days. It's not to the point that I avoid the piddly little bridges we have around here, but going over, say, the Golden Gate would give me pause. (When we were in Gulf Shores one summer, I recall driving on I-10 over Mobile Bay. It's a really freaking long stretch of bridge. I believe I spent the majority of the time cowering in the backseat and whimpering.)
2. How old do you expect to live before you feel it would be "okay" to die?
Hmmm. I think 75 would be the bare minimum (that's about the age both of my grandmothers died at), and 85-90 more like it. I expect these figures to increase as we age and more medical breakthroughs are discovered and the average lifespan increases; alternately, they may increase or decrease as I feel like I've accomplished/not accomplished things in my life. Of course, I hope that whatever age I live to, I keep control of my mind and all my bodily functions; if I'm growing senile, maybe it would be best to end it before it gets too far gone.
3. What is your favorite dinosaur and why?
Uhh...I don't know that I have one. I think if I did, it would be little and cute, though.
4. If you could change one thing about your physical appearance, what would it be?
Well, there's a few, but I think the giant two front teeth are top. They've always bothered me, ever since I realized I would not grow to match their hugeness. (Seriously, these things belong in a 6'5" man, not me.)
5. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
In order: artist, ballerina (this was very brief, like a month when I was seven), actress, singer, astrophysicist, writer. Perhaps you can tell what kinds of extracurricular activities I was involved in as a child.
(6.) If you were a pirate captain, what would you call yourself, and what would you name your ship?
Captain Soggy Seaweed of the good ship Sandbar (it lies in wait for unwary boats).
