icepixie: (Mulder/Scully fire and ice)

Now that the new X-Files movie is only a month from coming out, I'm starting to get veeeery excited about it. I spent about an hour tonight checking out the responses to a recent MSR vid challenge. From what I've seen so far:

Here's a cute, funny little vid.

And this is rather cool; it's clips in air-date order over the entire nine years, using an acousticy-sounding version of "Walking After You." (Remember in middle and high school, when we all made up little personal Mulder/Scully fanmixes which included that song, half of Sarah McLachlan's oevure, and bits and pieces from The Cure*? ...just me, then?) I realized in watching it that, wow, Scully's hair was almost as terrible as her wardrobe in the early seasons, and as she used progressively less hairspray, she looked progressively better. Also, bangs are a Really Bad Idea on her.

I hear also that in preparation for the movie, they're releasing an eight-episode DVD set with episodes Chris Carter considers essential for understanding the film. They are Pilot, Beyond the Sea, The Host, Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose, Memento Mori, Post Modern Prometheus, Bad Blood, and Milagro.

Anyone got speculation on why those might be vital for events in the film? I'm mostly unspoiled (because I can't seem to find the good spoiler sources anymore...it's been too long!), and would like to remain somewhat so, but tidbits are good. I'm guessing cancer and the Scully family play some part in the film, from the inclusion of MM and BtS. And perhaps Cher, from PMP? ;)

* Bonus points if, even now, hearing something by Savage Garden immediately makes you think of Paris/Torres on the strength of "To the Moon and Back." Ohhhh, I am so dating myself right now.

Sheesh, except for Milagro and the Host, those are all on my favs list...

Lessee, we also have recurring themes of mutants, psychics ("real", self-proclaimed, and potentially-in-denial), and Scully doing autopsies. I give up. :)

perhaps Cher

Y'know, I do remember hearing that she always regretted not appearing in that ep... *g*

The Host - the big icky mutant tapeworm guy living in the sewers. That's all I remember.

Clyde Bruckman!! Peter Boyle is the guy who knows how people die - stuff about the flip of a coin determining that Buddy Holly died, Mulder dying from auto-erotic asphyxiation (or however it's spelled)...

But yeah, I'm guessing a mutant psychic gets autopsied. Or something.

On the preview I saw, there was a dude with blood running out of black eyes, which seemed familiar but damned if I could remember if it was XF or not. *shrug*

Dude, as long as they make no reference whatsoever to most of the events of S8-9, I don't care. ;)

Oh, I dunno, they could run into Doggett & Reyes at some point. Y'know, have to back out of going to their first anniversary dinner because of the big bad mutant psychic autopsy. *bg*

Eeep. Don't think I saw that one...

ooh, not Eeep. Intriguing with a nice dose of sweet & funny thrown in, without much gore and/or violence.

Here's a cute, funny little vid.

BWAH! Thank you for reminding me how much I loved this show. WHY did I throw out all my tapes??

They looked so young back in 1994.

and as she used progressively less hairspray, she looked progressively better.

For the movie, she seems to be taking this to the extreme of No Hair Products At All, and Hasn't Actually Cut Or Even Touched Her Hair Since The Finale, to boot.

If the movie is anything like Bad Blood, I will watch it ten thousand times.

(Remember in middle and high school, when we all made up little personal Mulder/Scully fanmixes which included that song, half of Sarah McLachlan's oevure, and bits and pieces from The Cure*? ...just me, then?)

We can no longer be friends.

Because you're a fool?

I think it may have been because I hate clunky VHS. Still. Foolish. It can be Netflix tiems nao?

Gillian Anderson was OUR AGE, OMG, when she took the job. ACK.

HOLY CRAP.

Even if I made you a mix tape? ("A mix tape...he made a mix tape...")

Noooooo, you will not seduce me with your Side B's!!!!!!!!!

Wow, I just melted at the "Walking After You" video. Awww. Wait, middle and high school? I turned twenty the year the movie came out. *feels old*

Hmmm, so first meeting, psychics, Scully's dad, the M&S bond, XF can be seriously gross, XF humor, Scully's cancer, and ripping out hearts? (Or "Agent Scully is already in love.") Now that I think about it, all of the episodes, except maybe parts of Milagro, have Mulder and Scully on very good terms and show different facets of their relationship. Yes, hi, I'm a shipper. Also, it's interesting that nothing past season 6 is in there.

Er...I was fourteen?

For some reason, I often forget that. And I am often silly. Um, those two are not related. :)

Bwahahah!

Oh, shush!

I can't imagine why...

CC got smart? ;) I am so very glad we won't be dealing with a mytharc!

Thanks for the heads up. :D

Agent Scully is already in love.

Oooh! Yeah! That was Clyde Bruckman, wasn't it?

I posted that, then spent the next two hours thinking "Or wait, was that Milagro??"

I started watching bits and pieces in season 5(?), I think, a little more regularly near the end. Then I kinda wanted to see the movie, and FX was just starting to run them all in order, so I went through from the beginning. Or was the movie between 4 and 5? Anyway.

I started right after S:AaB was canceled, 'cause Morgan & Wong had gone back to writing and were bringing in guest stars right & left. I think my first full one was Musings of a Cigarette-Smoking Man, then it was on and off. I honestly can't remember why I decided to start watching full-time... I think the reruns in order were a big help, but I don't know why I threw myself into it. Huh... *shrug* I must have caught random reruns in there somewhere, just for kicks.

Yeah, I need to pull out dvds/tapes, too. Just to hit some highlights, if nothing else!

I've got no idea what these episodes might reveal about the film. Other than the fact that S7-9 sucked big time and that Mulder and Scully are probably shagging like bunnies off-screen, but then, I already knew that. :)
