Aug. 15th, 2003 09:13 pmS7 is looking up...
Nice ep. Better than most of the season. Some nice arcy-type developments, interesting guest characters, and good pacing, for once. The ending wasn't rushed; action and important plot points and developments were spread throughout the hour.
* One random British-esque accent among a bunch of Canadian and American accents? Ooookay. Interesting.
* *squees at Sam's conversation with Malla (sp?) in the infirmary* Hee! She thinks they have a "special relationship"!
* "Fierce as the wind and gentle as the sun"--heart of a warrior, soul of a poet, Teal'c? Pretty stuff.
* One fo the things I really like about this show is that the political ramifications of what happens on the show are addressed, and politics are often the cause for action, as is true in RL. I did like that part of "Enemy Mine," and it was nice to see it make a reappearance in this ep when Janet and Sam are discussing how the tretonin needs to work in order to cement Earth's alliance with the female Jaffa, and how an 80% success rate might be great in some cases, but not when interplanetary diplomacy is on the line.
* Daniel's glasses don't make him see better or worse--they're completely flat! (Thank you again,
tarzanic, for making me always think that whenever glasses are mentioned. Heh. And dude, Daniel? If ever there was a job that needed contacts...)
* They keep saying "procure a symbiote." My mind immediately calls Rygel and Chiana to mind. Snurch and procure, baby!
* The music at end? Exact same thing as at the end of Beneath the Surface. Not a bad thing, since it's lovely music, but I'm just sayin'.
* Didn't really notice the absence of Jack this week (possibly because it was light on everyone except Teal'c). Seemed pretty normal.
* Whoa, timing on the mid-season hiatus is nice. My last Friday at home with easy access to a TV is the week of the summer finale. :)

Date: 2003-08-16 08:44 am (UTC)Now if only Sam and Jack would get some--together! (Or Daniel and Janet, or even Thor and Heimdall. *eg* I'm an equal-opportunity shipper. ;))
And yes, Xena vibes made it much fun... YAY KICK ASS JAFFA WOMEN!
Was totally expecting Ishta to do the "Yi-yi-yi-yi-yi!" thing at some point during her fight with Teal'c. *g*
