This morning, my backpack was so heavy that set off the "passenger unbuckled" alarm in my car. Thank you, 1500-page brick of a Romanticism anthology.

Also grad school-related: One of the essays on the syllabus for my Renaissance seminar is by one of the professors I had at Exeter. Huh. Even now, I still have trouble reconciling my picture of profs as "my teacher" and "scholar in his/her own right." Now I'm tempted to go look up people in the MLA database or something.

How many semesters do you have left?

Anywhere from four (I finish my MA in spring '10) to...well, the PhD takes six more semesters of coursework after that, but then the dissertation can take either one or two years, depending on how ambitious I am and if I can afford to take a year off from teaching to just write the damn thing. Oh, and of course there's summer teaching and possibly coursework if I'm really masochistic, so I guess the long view is fourteen semesters. Eeek. That sounds so much more horrifying than seven years...
