Nov. 13th, 2008 01:05 pmMy first disc of Bones S2 came today. Reactions:
- OMG GOODMAN! Where is he? Nooooooo!!! (Much as I enjoy girl geeks in power, I loved me some Goodman. Plus, the only other archaelogist on TV I can remember is Daniel Jackson, and M.E.s are a dime a dozen. Although I suppose you can only have so many ritual killings per season, and a pathologist is teeechnically moresful...but GOODMAN!)
- I have mixed feelings about Cam. Was not a fan of the power trip she was on in the first episode, but I warmed up to her in the second. (Speaking of power trips, in Booth's ex we have yet another manipulative girlfriend/ex with my name. What, does it just scream "evil" to Hollywood types? Because this is like the fifth or sixth instance I've run into, and the only two counterweights I know of are Rebecca Fogg and Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.) I actually like the "Hodgepodge" nickname, though.
- Not a fan of the new grainy!vision flashbacks to the murders. LAMEZ0RZ. Profiler was doing that like twelve years ago, and at least there it made sense, but it's pointless here. Also, the twirly camera of seasickness is back. KNOCK IT OFF. I enjoy not being nauseated while watching TV. The weird twinkly/shiny transitions they're using sometimes are also made of lame.
- Regarding the whole "what will happen if I try to find my father even though he said not to?" thing...I'm gonna say, without the benefit of any spoilers, that BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN if you try to do that, Brennan. The man had a hit put on someone who was in jail. My understanding is that that's rather hard to do. Let sleeping crime bosses lie, eh?
- WHAT HAPPENED TO WONG FU'S?! *sob*
Hmmm. Apparently I don't like change. Er. I greatly enjoyed the stakeout in 2.1, though. So cute. And the pig scene at the end of 2.4! (Note to Brennan's friends: please do not get her a real pet. It would die of starvation within a week, unless it could live at the lab.) B&B were all up in each other's personal space throughout these episodes, much more than last season. Aww.
I also adore Angela/Hodgins. They are sweetness incarnate. (The rose! Awww!) And I want to read the fic someone surely wrote about Angela getting frustrated with the boringness of her lab coat and attacking it with flowery piping from her craft box late one night.

Finally getting around to answering the icon meme from
spleeny!

You have to love Rebecca Fogg's versatile hoop skirt frame that becomes a ladder. You just have to. (Best Victorian spy ever!)

I took the original picture of these canal boats on the Oxford Canal in May 2005, then jazzed it up in Photoshop. I think a week or two on a canal boat, wandering the waterways of England, would be an awesome way to spend some vacation and a large sum of money. (Apparently there are people who live on them full time. I don't think I could do that, but vacation...yes.)

This awesome screencap is from a Northern Exposure episode where Chris really, seriously lights up the darkness. For the whole scene, I direct you to YouTube.

This is one of Joel Anderson's Spirit of Nashville vintage-style prints. I wanted an icon for Nashville-specific posts and comments, and I adore that particular almost art deco style.

From the last episode of Due South. They put a dog in a parachute, y'all. It was funny.

Wanda taking a picture on Corner Gas. In theory, it's to be used for photo posts and such, but since I've been such a slacker at taking pictures lately, I've been using it mainly for CG-related stuff.

Date: 2008-11-13 11:13 pm (UTC)I can see why there is/was a mixed reaction to Cam, but I now love her to pieces.

Ooooh! I have not seen this. If you find it, let me know. :)

Ooooh! I have not seen this. If you find it, let me know. :)
I may have to write it. Crap. Reason number one hundred fifty seven for why I will totally fail this semester...

Date: 2008-11-14 02:25 am (UTC)I find her job much more annoying than her. "Respect my superfluous position! Interrupt your work to involve me!" She reminds me too much of my own past bosses. Other than that, she's okay.
I actually like the "Hodgepodge" nickname, though.
Zackeroni!

I know!! It had so much more ambiance! And nifty lighting! And a semblance of privacy for confidential case discussions!
And the pig scene at the end of 2.4!
Tiny pig! So ridiculous! And yet so cute.
(Note to Brennan's friends: please do not get her a real pet. It would die of starvation within a week, unless it could live at the lab.)
Book!Brennan has a cat, and even that is a stretch of imagination. (Then again, so are sooooo many implausibilities in the book...)
B&B were all up in each other's personal space throughout these episodes, much more than last season. Aww.
I'm still confused as to why they need to be three inches apart to yell at each other, but... I'm not arguing?
(The rose! Awww!)
Awwww! Bleeegh! Awwww!

Date: 2008-11-14 09:23 pm (UTC)Oh, wow, you're right. I can think of some bosses like that. Whoa.
Zackeroni!
That one I don't like. Zack doesn't seem the nickname type.

EXACTLY!

And the cat's lived how long without starving?

Indeed.
Awwww! Bleeegh! Awwww!
Oh, come on. It was cute!

AND FEWER BLATANT SNIPER ANGLES WTF?
Oh, come on. It was cute!
I'd have to say that Hodgins's tight little purple shirt was cuter...
