Bones S3

So the first disc of S3 came today, and of course I had to watch it, because...not much better to do until my prof e-mails us the questions we're supposed to prepare for the exam. Which she still hasn't done. The exam's Monday morning. I'm getting somewhat concerned, actually.

Anyway. Since I can't do much, having already studied myself to death for my later exam, here's some ramblings:

- Caroline Julian is LOVE and should be in every episode. Which she practically was!
- Angela started to go back to the bitchy valley girl type persona I hated in S1. It was mostly in the first episode, though. I think she might be over it now. Hope so, anyway. Maybe it was can't-find-my-vacation-husband nerves.
- Some genius in DVD production put the gag reel on the first disc of the set. Grrr. I hope it was all vague enough that I won't be spoiled for the rest of the season--beyond what I already am, anyway.
- Also, I know the season was shortened because of the writers strike, but do they really have to only put three episodes on a disc? Boo.

Widow's Son in the Windshield
- *gasp* They listened to me! There wasn't a montage at the end! OMG!
- I adored Clark, but Zack coming back was still sweet. Poor workaholic, misfit Zack. (Okay, every time they cut off more of his hair, he looks younger. He went from fifteen to ten to five.)
- The Booth-throwing-Brennan-to-the-floor-and-covering-her-for-way-longer-than-necessary did give me a chuckle.
- I like the continuing case aspect. Makes it seem like there's a patina of reality going on, seeing as a good number of cases that wind up at the FBI tend not to be solvable in two or three days, I would think...
- That really obvious matte background of the various DC monuments was...really obvious. Seriously.
- Um, actually, if you want to be pedantic, the center can't hold. < /Yeats scholar >

Soccer Mom in the Minivan
- For real, guys, just send DB and ED to Washington, shoot the scenes there over few days, and bring them back. The matte backgrounds are terrible.
- Oh dear god, Agent Boobs. Tack-eeee. Did enjoy Hodgins completely going off her when she was going to destroy the air filter.
- Poor Max. Show, you have made me feel sorry for a criminal.

Death in the Saddle
- Just when I had almost forgotten that this airs on FOX, along comes this episode to remind me. *cringes*
- I had to go to IMDB to find out why "Annie Oakley" looked so familiar; apparently she's been in SG-1, Forever Knight, and due South, among other, mainly Canadian productions. Hey, it's that girl!
- Brennan making horse jokes was hilarious. As was Booth being all, "I know the answer because I have a FIVE-YEAR-OLD."
- So the hypnosis was...cracky. And then scary. Hmmm.
- Brennan's fashion choice of the business-suit-with-long-shorts was not a good choice.
- *clunk* *can't talk because an ANVIL flattened me during that last scene*

I had to go to IMDB to find out why "Annie Oakley" looked so familiar; apparently she's been in SG-1, Forever Knight, and due South, among other, mainly Canadian productions. Hey, it's that girl!

Not to mention the SHEER UNADULTERATED AWESOME that is Vicki Nelson. My oft-used three or four icons of her may be contributing to your familiarity.

Also, I need to watch more Bones eps with Caroline Julian, on account of I spent a whole day working opposite Patricia Belcher a couple weeks ago, and am now officially a fan.

*seconds the notion of Vicki Nelson's sheer unadulterated AWESOME* And far less anvillicious as well (which is funny b/c Blood Ties is the Lifetime series not Bones!)

Booth really pissed me off in Death in the Saddle I mean okay they're weird esp by Booth's standards but does he HAVE to mock and make fun of EVERY SINGLE PERSON who holds different view points than he does? I mean as an FBI Agent I'd think they'd've covered this little thing called TACT at the academy at least! And yes there's something to be said for pissing off your suspects but do you have to do it to a roomful of possible witnesses?!!?

I know! So inconsiderate! I got a few clips in and had to stop for fear of spoilers. : ( Are there spoilers on the other extras?

Awww, and now he's getting angst, too! Little Zackaroni is all growed up! Except for the hair... I keep expecting Brennan to show up bald next, the way things are going. (Hodgins!! Hodgins whyyyyyyy??? You were so cute and puffy! Much like Zack was!)

Some gags just never get old. But Brennan! Closing your eyes is a very reasonable reaction! If you get blown up, there's gonna be a lot of particulates in the air, right? And you don't want them in your eyes! Trust the person in the room who's been blown up most recently!

Haha, science-rage! And I would be muuuuuuch more irritated with that whole arc if Hodgins did not have the Midas Touch of Adorkable with every scene he's in.

Can you imagine not being familiar with this show, and surfing past this ep on FOX, and just... staring? And then never watching FOX again?

TOTALLY. The camera just casually zoomed out on that, and I almost choked. It was like those YouTube artists who don't bother wearing pants to film in because their legs are off-screen. Great thing about this show: you never know when a random LOL is coming.

Awww, but it was a cute anvil. Booth is so earnest!
