Final Bones S3 episodes
Dec. 20th, 2008 05:13 pmAll Bones episodes should be as hilarious as "The Baby in the Bough." Because Brennan fluttering her hands in a baby's face and singing, "Phalanges! Dancing phalanges!" is the funniest thing I've seen in my life.
- Um, so did B&B get married without telling the rest of us? Because they were acting like it. Especially at the end there, where Booth is planning their vacation home. (And of course, "our little man." Like I couldn't see that line of dialogue coming from the first five minutes.) I might need an icon of Booth with the pacifier stuck in his mouth.
- Aaaand Angela and Hodgins are so going to be announcing some kind of baby-related news in S4, I know it. Of course Angela would like a chaotic number of children, too. (Everyone being all discouraging about the postpartum body changes made me laff, too.)
-Yay Cam for being the voice of reason when everyone else was all googly-eyed over the baby. Babies are nothing but snot-, vomit-, and poo-machines. (Although I did enjoy Brennan's awkward handling of the kid throughout the first half of the episode. That would totally be me if anyone thrust a kid in my arms. I would likely drop it.)
- Hellooooo, foster kid issues! I see it's time for your twice-per-season appearance. How've you been?
*
"The Verdict in the Story"
- I adored Clark in the first episode of this season, so I was glad to see him return here. Perhaps he can replace Zack in S4? He's kind of awesome.
- Speaking of Zack, I just noticed that his hair grew out! Sweet. Now if only Hodgins's will do the same, all will be well with the state of the hair on this show.
- They did a really great job with the filming of the courtroom scenes (they usually do). I liked the seamless intercutting as the various squints described the murder and all the other evidence.
- And now Max is free. This should be more disturbing to the characters, I would think. Seeing as he's, you know, a murderer.
*
"Wannabe in the Weeds"
- Hello, Neelix! Ethan Phillips, I think you have very much been typcast because of that show. Sorry.
- Ooooh, awkward microphone placement there. It looks like the guy's crotch is going to sing backup.
- Ha! And they finally, finally got the actor trained in musical theatre to sing. One episode before he gets locked up in the booby hatch.
- "The other girls and I referred to her as 'rad.'" Brennan, you don't know about The X-Files and you were a Cyndi Lauper fan? Seriously? ARGH CONSISTENCY ARGH ARGH ARGH. (I guess they're trying to imply that she lost touch withthe world pop culture after she was abandoned or something and thus she is still stuck in 1989, but still.)
*
"Pain in the Heart"
- Sooooo. This one. I was horribly spoiled, of course, because you couldn't really avoid it without turning off the internets. Nevertheless, it was affecting. (I particularly liked Cam's reaction; I think she might have been the closest of all of them to the poor boy.*) But although it was a good episode, it was also oh-so obvious that the writers said, "Shit! The strike cut us from 22 to 15 episodes, and we have to cram in Booth faking his death, Gormagon being caught, and Zack being the apprentice before the season ends! Ahhh!" The first third didn't really fit with the rest of the episode, and then it all ended rather abruptly. I particularly hope we get more of Zack's reasoning for helping the big G next season, but I doubt we will.
- But I have to say: remember how I said, way back at the fourth episode of S1, the one where he knew so much about cannibals, that Zack reminded me of a serial killer? Well.
- I have been ever so slowly collecting images for a Bones moodtheme, and with the picture of Booth wearing a beer-dispensing hat, reading a comic book in a bubble bath, I have found exactly what I need for "dorky." Tee hee.
- So now we remember Cam was once a cop and we have to mention it five times in the episode?
- Wait, Brennan has twenty graduate students to supervise? No, she doesn't! That is not physically or practically possible! ARGH! (Maybe she just rented them, I suppose.)
- Again, kudos to the cinematography folks for the lovely sequence where Zack is describing how to find Gormagon's house and we see Booth and the SWAT team hunting it down and going through it. That was nicely-done.
* Has anyone written fic on how she "knew the moment she met him that he would cause her pain"? 'Cause I would read that really eagerly. I've definitely started liking Cam a lot more since the early part of S2.
*
I also watched the latest episode of Pushing Daisies. OMG SO GOOD. And funny. Can't forget funny. I liked the real CSI vs. private eye angle. Is it just me, or on the map, did the bus drive up to Alaska to indicate where Papen County was? Because there weren't any political borders, but it sure looked way up there.

Date: 2008-12-21 02:31 am (UTC)Whee, dancing phalanges!
Um, so did B&B get married without telling the rest of us?
*snerk* I vote yes.
And now Max is free. This should be more disturbing to the characters, I would think. Seeing as he's, you know, a murderer.
Brennan must have the weirdest Father's Days ever.
Ooooh, awkward microphone placement there. It looks like the guy's crotch is going to sing backup.
I...may have to check out that scene again.
I particularly liked Cam's reaction; I think she might have been the closest of all of them to the poor boy.*
Her face gets me every time. I cam across an animated icon of it once and could not stop staring. I don't know of fic like that, since I have avoided most "Pain in the Heart"-fic, but I'd love to see it as well.
But I have to say: remember how I said, way back at the fourth episode of S1, the one where he knew so much about cannibals, that Zack reminded me of a serial killer? Well.
Yes, I laughed and was quite impressed.
Wait, Brennan has twenty graduate students to supervise? No, she doesn't! That is not physically or practically possible! ARGH! (Maybe she just rented them, I suppose.)
I figured she just got all of the grad students at the Jeffersonian together, whether she actually supervised them or not. Besides, there's so much handwaving on this show, I'm surprised the writers don't have some major RSI.
Also, hee PD!

Whee, dancing phalanges!
I'm still giggling over that. I may need to make an animated icon.
*snerk* I vote yes.
Considering every law enforcement officer ever seems to think the same thing...
Brennan must have the weirdest Father's Days ever.
Oh, I'm sure she will. Especially when Max inevitably kills someone again, as I'm sure he will once they need a plot device and Ryan O'Neal is available...
I...may have to check out that scene again.
I'm pretty sure it was there to mic any (shorter) guitar-players that might be playing at the open mic, but still. Awkward.
Her face gets me every time. I cam across an animated icon of it once and could not stop staring.
Ohhhh, man.
I don't know of fic like that, since I have avoided most "Pain in the Heart"-fic, but I'd love to see it as well.
Well, I will be on the lookout. Because if I don't read it, I might have to write it.
Yes, I laughed and was quite impressed.
I haz skills! Also, I read the spoiler right around that time. I can't recall if it was before or after that episode, though. Probably before.
I figured she just got all of the grad students at the Jeffersonian together, whether she actually supervised them or not.
That would be a lot of baby forensic anthropologists running around, though...
Besides, there's so much handwaving on this show, I'm surprised the writers don't have some major RSI.
Ugh. There is that.
