icepixie: ([B5] Ivanova Rennie Mackintosh)

So I finally got a chance to watch two more episodes of B5 (S1, episodes 3 and 4). Four thoughts:

- Oh, Susan. She really is the universe's punching bag, isn't she?

(In regards to that, I was listening to Gorecki's Symphony No. 3, and despite the fact that the material's Polish and she's Russian, I feel like there should be Ivanova fic that in some manner incorporates the second movement. I don't know exactly how that would work, but I think it should be done.)

- One of the girls in C&C is a dead ringer for Jayne Torvill. I keep expecting her to speak in an English accent.

- Jerry Doyle isn't doing too bad of an impersonation of eighties-era Bruce Willis either.

- [livejournal.com profile] cybermathwitch, I really started to notice what we were talking about in regards to the stagey blocking and camerawork of this show with episode four. It's irritating. Almost as irritating as everyone-but-Claudia Christian's bad acting. (Richard Biggs isn't too bad either, I suppose. But oh, Michael O'Hare. Ow. It's like watching Shatner.)

I still have to watch the last season of B5 (I have it on dvd even lol) but it has so much drama later on x.x Loved Susan though.

It took me forever to see Jerry Doyle as Jerry Doyle and not Bruce Willis when I started watching. Or at least it felt like forever--it was probably quicker than that ;)

Gorecki's 3rd is one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful things I've ever, ever heard. I love it unequivocally. And the 2nd movement might just be my favorite.

Yes, season 2 is better than season 1, not sure about 3 being better than 2 or anything, since I have the dvd boxes and I tend to marathon a shitload at once if I have the chance (which nowadays is well... limited lol due to work) and things get to be a bit blurry afterwards. All I know, there's a lot of Ivanova sarcasm/snarkiness XD

At least Michael O'Hare is not around forever. Though some of their guest actors are priceless. As in, pricelessly bad.

It gets less obvious (the blocking etc.) in future seasons. It's still there, but not quite as overt. Or else I just got used to it. Either is possible.
