I was just listening to the song after watching an episode of B5, and a thought came to me. After the end of S4, were there 1.9 million Ivanova/Marcus songfics to "Running Up That Hill"? *g*

I'm into S2 now! Hurrah. Bruce Boxleitner is a big improvement over Michael O'Hare, although I liked Sinclair as a character. So were the S2 credits shown the first time this aired? Because that would totally have blown the surprise of Delenn's appearance after she leaves her cocoon, which I assume happens in the next episode.

By the way, Hulu has the pilot movie, "The Gathering," placed in between S1 and S2. Should I watch it, or is it needless filler?

I don't remember if the credits were the same, I do remember being surprised by Delenn when she came out of the cocoon though. So make of that what you will.

The Gathering has plotty stuff, but I don't think it's essential to watch it. I'm not a huge B5 fan though.

I saw the Gathering when it first aired long and long ago (Hubby, who's a bigger B5 fan, has never seen it, so go figure). It does have plot-y stuff, and wouldn't hurt to watch it (I'd recommend it, just for the sake of completeness) and I can't figure why they would put it *between* seasons 1 & 2 instead of at the very beginning where it **goes**. ::confused face::

I'm leaning towards watching it once I've exhausted all the episodes. It doesn't sound too vital.

Maybe they put it where it is because if it's the first thing a new viewer saw, they'd never watch the show? ;)

I thought it was cool and good set-up, but you never know, I suppose. At this point, it doesn't so much matter where you watch it, because they'll flashback the important Lyta bits when you get there.

Yeah, I know it goes at the beginning, but I didn't notice that Hulu had it until I ran across it in the list of episodes they had available--for some reason, they stick it between S1 and S2.

I've got The Gathering on tape somewhere. I've never watched more than a few minutes of it, though. It's definitely a pilot-ish thing (many characters look different, especially the Minbari). And you can definitely survive without it.

Hahaha, considering I only know that song from Bones "Judas on a Pole," that gave me a very odd mental image. The lyrics fit quite well, but my first thought is very different than Ivanova/Marcus.

Oh, if you've only ever heard that terrible cover they used, do yourself a favor and listen to Kate Bush's original. Soooooo much better.

And yeah, the way they used it is a bit different from how I imagine teenaged songfic writers using it. ;)

Sounds good. Now that I've had time to check on Hulu, I think I have bits of "The Gathering" confused with other episodes & movies. I believe that B5 often reveals parts of the story and then fills in others when they will have a greater impact.

By the way, I nearly cracked up when I saw that Sheridan has a picture of the Lone Cypress (as in my default icon) up in his quarters. I'm a dork. ;)

"The Gathering" is about the early days of the B5 station. According to wikipedia, a revised version "The Gathering" aired right after "In The Beginning," which may have added to my confusion. Sorry about that!
