Yes, it is a giant crab. A CRAB AS BIG AS THE TRASH CAN IT'S CLINGING TO. A LAND-CRAB.

2. Not a perspective trick.

Yes, the sea worm is four feet long. It digested hooks they tried to catch it with.

That crab probably the most startling of the three images. The sea worm was...horrible, but not all that awful by the standards of sea creaturs, which are horrible by nature.

If you haven't read Pilgrim At Tinker Creek by Annie Dillard, you ought to, just for her description of watching a giant water bug eat a frog and the leave behind its empty skin.

We name critters all sorts of dumb things at aquariums. The one I work at has two giant beluga sturgeon named Horace and Boris. No idea why. The octopuses are Won-Ton and Noodle. The sea turtle is Stewy. We try not to tell people that anymore because they complain about the "food" names.

Personally I'd take a nuclear bomb over the Doctor on against any of those things...he'd probably tell everyone they're very nice aliens, and then one he left they'd go around killing everyone that he'd put off-guard.

The coconut crab is thankfully not found much north of the equator.
