So close...
Sep. 1st, 2003 11:56 amI think we might get our connection restored tonight or tomorrow morning. Sreya took the sheet with all our initials on it down to LBIS this morning. *crosses fingers and toes*
So we had our first ballroom practice last night. Yay newbies! There are two guys who are really, really into the whole thing. I want about twenty clones of each of them, dammit. WE NEED MEN! There were actually rather a lot of guys there, although also a lot of girls. We did merengue (easiest dance ever) as the intro to the whole thing, and all the older female members ended up dancing as guys for the entire time. I actually quite like leading in Latin/Rhythm, 'cause the guy? Does NOTHING but the basic for, like, the entire time. If I compete this semester (I'm thinking either Michigan or Nationals, but not both and not anything else), I may lead newcomers. That could be fun.
And last night was fun for me because I actually knew more than some people! Yay! I wasn't making a complete fool of myself! Of course, that carefully-cultivated image of grace and coordinatedness was blown all to hell this morning when I slipped, practically did a split and covered my right leg in mud right in the center of Middle Path. That was pleasant.
The first Hika meeting was last night as well. Also entertaining. I proclaimed myself the grammar nazi, which hopefully didn't scare too many freshmen.
While my ego is kind of suffering from finding out that I didn't make Chamber Singers, my inner time manager is running around in circles and cheering. Same amount of credit for only about a quarter of the work with Community Choir, which is not a bad thing. Besides, pretty much everybody in CS has had music theory, it seems, and is in general more into the technical business of the whole vocal thing than I am, so I probably would've been in way over my head.
I think that's about it. I actually got some writing done last night (yay!) because I have nothing else to do. I have about fifty opening paragraphs, and nowhere to go on any of them, but I'm kind of working on my android-contemplates-suicide thingy. Oh, and I found my witch-sues-Hansel-and-Gretl-for-damages-to-house-and-psychological-trauma ficcy thing, which I started in junior year of HS and never finished. Pezzers want me to finish it. I want me to finish it. One day I will finish it.
And nwo that we've had that weird journey into my creative mind, I think I'll stop and leave now...

Date: 2003-09-01 02:58 pm (UTC)Hehehe. But you commute to campus, right? I live here. And trust me, in Gambier? If you aren't a member of twenty different organizations, you *will* end up slitting your wrists dead of winter from bordom and depression.
And dude, the dancing is just the neates thing ever.
Thanks. I quite think so. Apparently a lot of freshmen do, too.

*snicker* Yeeeeeah. And I didn't even think of it outside the ballroom context until you mentioned that. God, I'm obsessed...
