I think it's a southern thing. All K-12 schools and colleges in southern states start insanely early--I remember starting a year of high school on August 11th. The nice part is that our year ends super early as well. (Classes at UT were over on April 30th this year.)
One's an 8am class, right?
Ugh, yes. And it's followed immediately by a 9:00 section. But then I'm done teaching for the day! (Still have to either hold office hours or work at the journal for the rest of the morning, but that's manageable. And then I'm done for the day three days a week.)
