The portmanteau fans have come up with for Ryan/Esposito on Castle is, apparently, "Roach."

ROACH. SERIOUSLY.

THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE AS A PORTMANTEAU.

This cancer needs to be stopped. Can we please, please, PLEASE go back to [Name]/[Name]? Or even [Initial]/[Initial]? GOOD GOD.

UGH!

Dude, the use of a portmanteau for pretty much any pairing is a clue to me to stay far away, especially from stories labeled as such. Because they tend to suck.

Actually, the initial reason that name probably got popular is because that is the term for the Ryan and Esposito counterparts in the Richard Castle book ABC is publishing for more media. I've actually read a few chapters of the Heatwave - Ryan is something like Riley and Esposito is Ochoa, and the duo is "affectionately referred to as Roach".
