Castle 2.05: "When the Bough Breaks"
Oct. 20th, 2009 10:54 am- British secret agent who shall not be named!
- Awww, he's ignoring Beckett's call. :(
- Okay, this case had its moments, but I have to say, the one Beckett, Esposito, and Ryan were making up to screw with Castle's head would've been much more entertaining. Please can we get a(n ostensible) murder by death ray sometime this season?
- Have I mentioned yet that I'm really not a fan of Beckett's hair this season? The longer it grows, the worse it looks. I loved it back when it was at its shortest last season.
- For some reason, I found Castle entering the precinct as Beckett was talking on the phone and them sharing that little wave really cute. I don't know.
- Castle, not a good idea to block the detective who's trying to catch a suspect.
- UM. Alexis's dress was...not an inspired choice for her.
- Oooh, poor Beckett, hounded by cameras. I loved the way she kind of hunched into herself and was obviously Less Than Pleased by the attention.
- "That's some love letter you wrote her." Squeak! The agent's voice definitely grated, but I sort of adored her comparison of Beckett getting a book and her getting just a chapter. And she's all, "Are you sleeping with her? Why the hell not? Get her out of your system and sign the contract!" And then Castle's kind of like, "But...I don't want her out of my system." *glees* Okay, the path is well-trodden by now, but I still love the scenery.
- And then there was that dedication, and he called her extraordinary, and yay.
- How much did I love Beckett's reaction to "Listen, I was thinking..."? You could see her stiffen and practically hear her thinking, "Oh my God, is he going to ask me out? What'll I do? Ack!" And then the music changes and Castle starts talking about the case and she's all, "Wait, what?"
- "Oh, come on. What man has ever turned you away?" *is ded of UST*
- Aw. And then she picks a fight 'cause she just doesn't want to deal with whatever might be brewing there. Bless.
- "Thank you for using 'irony' correctly." Oh, Castle. I love your writerly snits.
- "Yeah, well, it must be your great grammatical influence over me."
"I may be going, but I'm leaving something of myself behind."
And then they smile at each other like dorks.
- OMG babyswap! I should've seen that coming, but I totally didn't. I did really like the scene with the mother and biological father were sharing time with the kid.
- Yeah, the ending was a bit cheesy, but I guess they've gotta handwave the premise every once in a while. FWIW, I totally thought they were going to be broken up for an episode or so before some kind of plot device brought them back together, 'cause Nathan and Stana totally sold that scene. (Um, possibly it helps that I watch this show online when I first wake up on Tuesday mornings, so I'm not necessarily at my cognitive best.) Loved Beckett's "I'm gonna kill you! ...No, sir, I wasn't talking to you." The "Are you coming or not?" was telegraphed from the moment she got the call from Esposito, but was still cute.
