How much love do I have for this show? I don't think the term has been invented yet.

- Okay, the Firefly thing was just...I...yes. The costume would've been amusing enough on its own, but then the dialogue:

Alexis: What exactly are you supposed to be?
Castle: Space cowboy.
Alexis: Okay, a.) there are no cows in space; b.) didn't you wear that, like, five years ago?
Castle: So?
Alexis: So...don't you think you should move on?
Castle: I like it.

HEE. Metafiction, ILU. (Also, the music got all westerny when he came out of his bedroom. And the way he jumped out with his gun ready and his coat swirling was pure Captain Mal.)

- And then he suggested she go as Hermione. OF COURSE.

- "You're my candy beard."

- Also, I just noticed this (because I bought the episode on iTunes so I could watch it again and again...), but I love how Castle's bookshelves are actually filled with books.

- For a long time, I was like, "'Feggin'? How is this pronounced 'Fay-gin'? I know they're going for 'Fagen,' but..." And then I realized these people are probably those freaks from up north who pronounce "egg" like "ayg."

- Aaand he wears the costume to the crime scene. And no one does anything besides comment on the suspenders.

- I was totally shocked the grave without a date of death thing came back to be relevant. I figured it was just an amusing aside.

- And there's a Buffy reference. *snerk* I'm gonna say that the victim on the morgue slab with a stake sticking out of his heart was a reference to XF's "Bad Blood," although I would've enjoyed Lanie saying, "Cause of death? Gee, that's a tough one..."

- Aw, Castle and his trivia. He must know all kinds of weird facts for his line of work.

- Castle: Wanna get something pierced?
Beckett: Do you? (looks at his crotch)
Castle: (gulp) Wow.

This show is aiming for Pushing Daisies levels of getting crap past the censors, isn't it? ROCK.

- Beckett: (makes a comic book reference)
Castle: That is the sexiest thing I've ever heard you say.

This show is run by geeks. And I love it.

- And then Beckett says Castle could write a book on all the stuff he doesn't know about her, and I giggled.

- "Did the relationship suck?" The first of two truly magnificent puns in this episode. SHOW, I LOVE YOU.

- And then Castle and Esposito did a "feed the birds" afterwards.

- I could feel myself leaning forward when it looked like Castle was going to tell about his childhood trauma, and then they got interrupted and I figured that was it for the episode. But they went back to it! Sort of, anyway...

- "You guys are detectives. Detect." *snerk* Kate, I love you.

- I'm totally getting some kind of crush-on-Beckett vibe off of Esposito in that scene where they talk about the party. Except I think he also knows it's just a fantasy and he isn't really interested in her.

- I love how physical Castle and Beckett's teasing can be, like when she bumps his feet off her desk with her butt. I also loved her dragging him back from the warehouse by his coat, completely nonchalantly, so that she could go first. And then Castle was just sort of like, "Siiiigh," but also totally accepting.

- OMG, the "you smell like cherries" scene? SQUEE. And then Esposito and Ryan are all, "Did we interrupt?" And Beckett's like, "Dude, no," while Castle's all, "Yes," even though he knows they technically weren't. I really like how he's totally open about flirting with her, rather than trying to play it like he's not attracted to her on some level. (And yet at the same time, when people suggest he's really interested, he gets all bewildered and flustered, and it's fantastic.)

- Me being me, the first thing I thought when Lanie says "porphyria" is "He strangled someone with her own hair?"

- Only Castle would be carving a pumpkin with power tools. And then make either a Psycho or Dr. Horrible reference. (The coughing at the end was the best part.)

- Loved Castle's "Okay, but you can call me if anything goes wrong, no questions asked." So perfect.

- Beckett was totally doing the "senior party, huh?" thing to freak out Castle, wasn't she? Hee.

- I wasn't sure Castle had it in him to be The Parent, but WOW, that scene where he made Alexis give him Paige's parents' number? That was amazing. Wow.

- Awww, Beckett looked after the egg! You know, I think C&B might be even better as a couple than they are right now!

- Castle totally had me going with the story. I think I just wasn't expecting the change in tone after that very sad scene with the dad from the case. I think it would probably be good not to give him trauma, since we have Beckett's traumatic past already.

- Martha's costume--with the stuffed dalmations!--absolutely killed me.

- And then there was Kate's alien costume. HEE!

- "I'm giving you the bird." Not only another magnificent pun, but it doubles as getting crap past the censors. Show, you are AWESOME.

That's...impressive?

Ehh. I doubt it's that uncommon. Between student loan unemployment deferment applications, unemployment papers/paperwork, bills I'm not sure how I'm going to pay, including medical bills and bills for my COBRA, etc etc...and then things like the papers I've edited for a kid this week, which are sitting here in case he has questions, etc...it's not even a little bit hard to amass a lot of the stuff.

It's damned annoying, though.

Having just Hulued the first few minutes of the episode, it's pretty clear to me that all the egg names are puns. So they call it Fagin but spell it Feggin because it's an egg. Zack Eggfron and Egg Begley, Jr are the other options Castle mentions.
