icepixie: ([Movies] Fred and Ginger cheek to cheek)

Title: A Love That Won't Sit Still
Song: Stray Italian Greyhound
Artist: Vienna Teng
Fandom: Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films
Vidder: [livejournal.com profile] icepixie
Length: 4:08
Summary: In almost all of their movies, Fred's character spells bad news for Ginger's, at least for a time--he gets her fired, he ruins her auditions, he screws up her engagements, etc. You just want to tell her to run far, far away as soon as he enters the scene. But then, of course, she would never fall in love with him, and there would be no film, and that would be no fun. Besides, he always manages to charm her in the end...*

Title: Can't Take a Hint
Song: There She Goes
Artist: The Las
Fandom Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films
Vidder: [livejournal.com profile] icepixie
Length: 2:53
Summary: As I was making the vid above, a collection of Astaire characters tapped me on the shoulder and insisted there be a vid from their POV. Fearing strangulation by white tie, I obliged. So here is a vid about how crazy they are about Ginger's characters. Emphasis on the "crazy," because, let's face it, his character is KIND OF A STALKER in most of these movies. ;)

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] rowdycamels and [livejournal.com profile] eldivinomarques for looking it over.

* I actually had narrative rationale for putting particular clips where I did in this one--well, moreso than the "movement of feet (or hands, arms, heads, etc.) match the beats/body position makes a good transition with the last clip/generally matches the flavor of the music" that primarily drove the last one--so if there's interest, I would be more than happy to babble about this vid, and about the awesome fun that is vidding musical films, in another post because I am a nerd.

I already gave you my opinion about the second vid so there no use to reapeat it. ;) Now, in the first one, "A Love That Won't Sit Still" I found it exquisite. I really appreciate the fanvideos that use actual songs.Music from the movies and that era are fantastic but I think that mixing these 30's movies with modern music let us notice how feelings, emotions that were described there are timeless and that fit perfectly with that moderm music. Btw, I love how you take care over the dance clips to follow the music (specially around 2:17.

Downloading right now, the 46 Mb version to go directly to my ipod ;)

and btw, I forget about this but, yeah, make a post talking about video edition. It will be very interesting to read your thoughts about this subject and well, I think it's an excellent way to show the hard work that's behind any edition and that not all the people notices it.

I first watched the second video, because I am familiar with the song, I thought it was great how you seemed to sync the clips with the beat of the song. And the first video, very lovely song and I really enjoyed the "story telling" with the clips. Great videos!

Utterly charming! Vienna Teng (and this song in particular) has such a lovely lilting quality that lends itself wonderfully to the Astaire/Rogers style. In addition, you've combined various movie source very well, not just in terms of movement, but also emotional continuity, so it tells one story.

Wow, you blew me away! Both vids were just expertly executed. I haven't enjoyed watching a new vid as much as I did here on both counts in a long while. Thank you so much for sharing!

Someone's already used the word, but I have to agree that these vids are both exquisite. You've managed to both match the timing of the dancing perfectly, and to convey delicate shifts of emotion. I am in awe.

Oh, I adore these two vids so much. You have such a deft touch at pairing the movements of their dancing with the music, and I'm just left sitting here with such a silly grin on my face. Beautiful work!
