Music Links
Dec. 28th, 2009 01:26 pmPeter Bradley Adams - I already rec'ed Los Angeles (which is one of the most beautiful songs I've heard in recent years), but also check out Queen of Hearts, which is a bit more uptempo, and Song for Viola, which refers not to a girl but rather the cousin to a fiddle, as it's an instrumental.
Rosi Golan - Likewise, I already rec'ed Come Around, but also take a listen to Been a Long Day and I Don't Wanna Wait, which is not a cover of the Paula Cole song, but is a bouncy little tune that I quite like. The last link goes to the whole album on Rhapsody; I think you get some number of listens free each month or something. Anyway, I couldn't find another streaming version of it, so there you go.
Erin McCarley - Pitter Pat. I really like the chorus to this one.
Mat Kearney - Runaway Car. I'm liking most of that album, but not quite enough to buy it yet. Maybe once pieces of it play a few more times on Pandora...
Patty Griffin and Mary Chapin Carpenter - Dear Old Friend. I'll issue the same warning I do when I link Dar Williams's "When I Was a Boy": listen to it in private first, in case you start crying. (It's not quite as sob-inducing as WIWaB, but it's up there.)

Date: 2010-01-01 08:56 am (UTC)Oh, another Adams song I like, but didn't link to in the original post, is called "Keep Us." It's off the same album as "Los Angeles" (Leavetaking). It's been useful music for something I'm writing.
Have you ever heard anything by his old group, eastmountainsouth? Someone, I think the critic on iTunes, noted that he had basically done the same thing as when he was with eastmountainsouth, but without the "mountain" and without most of the "south." Heh. I like the version of "Hard Times" they did, anyway, and the other songs on their one album are pretty good too.
