I showed my 102 class Serenity tonight so that we can discuss it tomorrow, in addition to the mini-lecture on the tradition of the western as translated to science fiction I'm planning. We're also going to watch some fanvids and talk about them in class.

I will leave you all to seethe jealously now. :D

I only had five kids out of twenty-three show up tonight. I'm going to choose to believe that the rest watched it on their own, or possibly that they own it--I do, after all, have some nerds in this class--at least until the quiz scores tomorrow prove me wrong.

Okay, that's actually quite easy-going for a in-class quiz. Some of the reading quizzes my lecturers used to test our canon knowledge were decidedly more evil. You're going soft on your students. ;)

Well, my goal is purely to scare them just enough that they do the reading for the day. Otherwise--and I know from experience--most of them won't. Thus, a few questions they can't get from skimming the Wikipedia entry, doesn't take much time in class, the end. I get evil when I'm grading their essays. ;)

I still have only seen bits and pieces of that movie. I should watch the whole thing some day. Or perhaps read the book.
