Okay, cliffhangers which put one of the main characters in danger automatically get some lameness points (because really, it's not like we don't know she's going to be fine), but other than that this episode was great.

Jordan Shaw was pretty awesome. ("Mommy has to arrest someone now, but I'll be home for dinner." BWAH!) The serial killer case was actually kind of intriguing. Loved, loved, loved everything Castle and Beckett did together, including the pancakes. We even got some Captain Mal when he got all protective and insisted on sleeping on her couch. (I even loved all the ribbing--ordinarily a guest character commenting on the UST would ping my suspension of disbelief radar, but Shaw was written so that it would be believable coming out of her mouth. And of course Ryan and Esposito "questioning" them about the previous night was hilarious, as was Lanie's "It's so cute when you two do that!")

The gadgets and smart board were damn cool. I want one in my classroom. Castle going nutty over them was pretty funny as well, as was Shaw's reaction. (They totally laid the groundwork for the whole motherhood revelation with "Put. The taser. DOWN.") And the moment where he stuck his head out the SUV window like an anxious dog as everyone but him ran off to do police work was pretty much the capper. Hee.

And awww, Martha's leaving. (She'll totally be back in six months, like Castle says.) Obviously the extra bedroom must now be filled with Beckett. Not only can she crash there until she gets a new apartment, but really, does she need to bother with the new apartment? This seems like fate knocking against your head, my friend. ;)

It's probably a sign that I spent too much time on my lesson planning that, when Castle interrupted FBI-dude reading the summary of Heat Wave, I thought he was going to complain about his use of passive voice rather than the spoilers. (Yeah, my students are getting that lesson today. Gah.)

(Wow, I couldn't get through even one paragraph without a parenthetical remark. Huh.)
