I'm not doing a B5 rewatch entirely because it's a great show and I want to see it again. In fact (and this will probably not come as a surprise), I am planning an EPIC VID. Since I don't own any of the DVDs, I'm using this rewatch as an opportunity plan what I want to use in the vid and thus to figure out what episodes I need to rip the material from.

This is where you come in, assuming you are both a B5 fan and willing to help me out. The song I'm using is "Apocalypse Lullaby," by The Wailin' Jennys, which you can listen to here. You can view the lyrics here, or you can download the Excel file where I've pasted in the lyrics/instrumental movements and storyboarded some extremely tentative footage. The lyrics include the phrase "One round heart, one round home," and I'm using the station as the embodiment of that idea--in all the turmoil of the series, it's a constant and a beacon of light. The more characters I can involve, the better.

I would love to hear suggestions for what could go where. If there's a particularly vivid scene you remember, tell me about it. (Whatever form you like: "this scene would be amazing set to this lyric," or "whatever you do, you must include that time where X does Y," or however else you want to phrase it.)

"Earthquakes break the wall" - *know* there is a clip of Susan on the bridge of that Ranger ship where a bunch of stuff explodes, though don't ask me what episode it is in. I suppose I could be imagining it, too, but I really don't think so... I can almost see the scene in my head with her ducking for cover

"Empires fall" - The clip of the Drakes (I think?) infecting Earth with whatever disease they do in revenge would be my first choice, a fleet of ships exploding or being destroyed would also work. There were probably a bunch of scenes like that during the Shadow War, yes?

'Spin the speed of light' - possibly the scene where Kosh leaves his bio-suit and everyone sees an angel-like being

"One last paradise" - isn't there a really cool garden with a waterfall falling down from the 'ceiling' somewhere on the station? Or perhaps it was a garden growing up the walls, but either way, that would probably be a good scene.

"Faster than a ship" - definitely some ship entering or leaving the hyperspace window/gate thingymabob. I know that isn't what it is called, but you know what I'm talking about.


That is about all I can do seeing as I haven't seen B5 in years and years and years - I think I was still in high school the last time I caught rerun on Sci Fi, actually. Hopefully there are suggestions in there that give you ideas if nothing else. :)

Also, cool song! Perfect for B5, too - I totally saw random clips in my head as it was playing.

Also, for at least one of the "beacon in the dark" lines - is there a clip with Susan or someone looking out the viewscreen of some ship or another and seeing the Babylon 5 station framed out the 'window'? I know a lot of sci fi shows have a scene like that, so I could easily be flashing back to some other show, but I thought I would ask.

"One round home" - I'm seeing one of the main crew members (Doc Franklin maybe?) in casual clothes wandering through a sea of people in the below decks for this line. Well, one of them at least

I'm pretty sure there are a crapload of moments where someone sees the station from the outside, especially during the wars. I'd definitely like to use one.

The clip of Susan ducking you're thinking of comes from S4's "Between the Darkness and the Light," when she gets critically injured while leading the attack on Earth. Marcus kills himself for her with the healing machine in the next episode, "Endgame."

For "Empires fall," I'm pretty sure I'll use one of the many images of Londo watching Centauri Prime be destroyed, but something from elsewhere in the Shadow War is not out of the question.

Ooh, I like that scene, but I think maybe not there--I'm probably going to use a jump gate lighting up and a ship flying through it (a White Star doing something awesome is going to go with "faster than a ship"). But now I definitely want to use the Kosh-angel scene (it's from the last episode of S2, I think). Maybe for "see the glowing grid" (although I think a shot of the station would be better, maybe) or one of the "enter world"s.

There are several scenes in gardens, yes. That might be a bit literal, though...I was sort of thinking that moment at the end of "Objects at Rest" where John and Delenn's ship matches rotation with the station and all the replacement characters salute them, but I don't love that either. I will think on it.

It is probably one of my favorite scenes, and I remember it pretty damned clearly even after all of these years - hence the suggestion, because *I* sure wouldn't mind seeing it in a vid. ;)
