Writing rambling
Jun. 24th, 2010 04:00 pmHmmm. I am very tempted to sign up for
schmoop_bingo and/or
mundane_bingo once it goes online. Given the kinds of things I tend to write, they seem very appropriate. I probably won't, though, since any and all fic-writing challenges/exchanges/fests/prompts tend to make fandom feel like work, which is no good. (Which is not to say that I don't enjoy writing something suggested by one of y'all in the course of a conversation about something else, and sometimes a list of prompts will spark something, but the only deadlines/guidelines I like to have are self-imposed.)
However, of the four CI 'verse fics I have in progress at the moment (they just keep mushrooming! I will never finish anything!), three of them fit prompts from
schmoop_bingo (well, assuming one likes their schmoop laced with political intrigue and the odd firefight, but hey, who doesn't like that?). One of the prompts also gave me an idea that I am resolutely tabling until I finish some of my backlog. The other in-progress fic is currently summarized as "Curtainfic with actual curtains, and other household objects," so it would likely fit
mundane_bingo. Tempting, tempting. Eh, maybe I'll just pick and choose interesting prompts from the master lists and make my own personal card.

Date: 2010-06-25 01:09 am (UTC)I feel like I should like her more than I do. I got five of the songs from that album, but didn't feel the need to get the others. Of the ones I bought, I love the music and her voice, but the lyrics make no sense, which irritates me.

I don't have that problem with the songs - I feel like they're written more with the evocation of a feeling in mind than telling a story - but that could definitely be something she developed later.

Date: 2010-06-26 05:21 am (UTC)Ha! That's a good way to go about it. Personally, I just wound up finding it completely dull somewhere in S4, and then the proverbial last straw was that episode where Sweets literally showed his scars. ACK. I had hated Sweets since he showed up; that was it for me.

I'm really fond of his character because the actor (Francis whatshisface) was on Freaks and Geeks, and I used to watch that with my mother and my brother.
