Warehouse 13: Reset
Sep. 21st, 2010 09:24 pmWait. Wait, hang on. So H.G.'s motivation for doing all that con work, dragging everyone to Egypt, and nearly using the trident was "The world still has crime and violence"? REALLY?
Show, I am disappointed. I mean...I know she probably went quite literally insane while bronzed, because she was basically in solitary confinement for 100+ years, but SERIOUSLY? You've got this whole nicely built-up thing with her dead daughter, the potential for MacPherson to have left something in her brain that still controls her, or any number of things, and you choose THIS?
Wow.
On the upside, this episode was so, so beautifully slashy. I will start near the beginning, where Pete is on the phone with Kelly and telling her he loves her, and Myka is trying not to cry in the car. Dollars to donuts she was thinking, "H.G. and I could've had that if she hadn't turned EVIL! Whyyyyy did my girlfriend have to betray me?"
And then despite how ridiculous H.G.'s motivation was (perhaps next season they will reveal that there's more to it than that? One can dream!), there was that excellent, excellent tension-filled scene where Myka talks her down, and plays ontheir luuuurve H.G.'s demonstrated inability/lack of desire to kill her, Pete, Artie, etc. And then takes H.G.'s hand, which happens to be holding her gun, puts it to her own head, and tells H.G. to kill her now if she really means it! That was a great scene. Joanne Kelly still kind of annoys me most of the time, but she totally sold it. And Jaime Murray was definitely working H.G.'s angst there.
And then at the end, as Myka and Pete were standing there leaning on the Warehouse railings, it was definitely a moment of, "Well, our girlfriends both dumped us. Siiiiigh." And then she spent the rest of the scene telegraphing to everyone but Pete the Oblivious that it was she who was quitting. (Please, please, please, someone out there write the epic hiatus fanfic where Myka winds up breaking Helena out of whatever crazy prison the Regents concocted for her and they, I dunno, go on the lam or have to save the world or do something awesome together as free agents without the rest of the team. I need this fic like burning!) Although I do not buy for one second what Myka was peddling about Pete being eminently suited for Warehouse work, because truly, however many puzzles he solved Egypt, the man is a menace.
Loved Artie and Claudia being all father/daughtery. Awwwwwwwwwwwww.
Anyway. The other good thing: Kelly is gone! And she didn't have to die! I figured for sure she was a goner. But I guess they didn't want to put any blood on H.G.'s hands, 'cause she's totally coming back next season. No way they're leaving THAT mystery hanging. And aaaaah, I hope she comes back permanently as an agent at some point. *crosses fingers*

Date: 2010-09-22 04:24 pm (UTC)And I don't normally slash ship, but HG/Myka is very persuasive. We can always hope HG will come back permanently.
I did a happy dance when Kelly left. I thought she was a goner too.
And while I do love Artie and Claudia's father/daughter thing, he was TOTALLY lying to her about her choosing her own destiny--he (and the warehouse) is going to manipulate her until she wants to become the next Mrs Fredrick.

We can!

I can't decide if he was lying to her or if he was wondering exactly how he was going to fulfill his promise when fate/Mrs. Frederic/Regents were all out to make her do their bidding. Hmmm.
