Things I Do Not Understand:

1. Why I suddenly find myself in possession of a Sheridan/"Sleeping in Light"-centric Sheridan/Delenn vid. And why it is the quickest vid I have ever made. Okay, yeah, the song is only about two and a half minutes, but I seriously started this thing THIRTY MINUTES AGO and I have footage on every bit of the timeline. I need to futz with about fifteen seconds' worth, and it'll be done. I could conceivably finish this the same day I started it. And I don't even like the POV character or the pairing!

2. Why, of the four fics I'm currently splitting my writing time between, THREE of them involve children. Dear Brain: Did you forget I hate kids? What gives? (Although writing the hoary old "OTP babysits and things get very weird" cliche does amuse me. Susan has currently gotten the bright idea that if she makes the kid retrieve all the paper airplanes they're throwing in the park, she can burn off some of said kid's energy, much as one does with a dog when playing fetch. She is also optimistically trying to explain Bernoulli's Principle when the kid asks why the paper airplanes fly but he can't.)

3. Why I can't seem to write any verse at all today. Grrr.

4. That "Stereotypical Female Characters" chart going around. If you haven't run into it yet, be thankful; it is heinous.

Therefore, another Wall Of Awesome Female Characters, inspired by settiai. Since fully two-thirds of my icons feature a female character from somewhere (and I'm not even including the quotations from female characters), this got quite large:

You too, huh? That thing irritates me so much. Guess what? Characters sometimes are tropes! Sometimes they're not! They're better when they're just written as people. And if you write women as people just like if you write men as people, everything will be okay!

On the other hand, I giggle madly at your situation with the vid. This is almost exactly (okay - it was a fic, not a vid) how my thing for Delenn/Sheridan started. I was just minding my own damned business, and a fic (from Sheridan's perspective!) assaulted me. And ever since then I've been pathologically incapable of not sympathizing with him a bit. :P

I think what most offended me about that chart was the inclusion of Yoko Ono. A REAL PERSON IS NOT A FICTIONAL TROPE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

And yes, writing characters as real people = the way to go!

Heh, actually there's a moment in this vid that could be read as, "Sheridan's kind of a jerk for going off on his Magical Mystery Tour of the Galaxy instead of spending his last days with his wife and child." Although I don't necessarily intend people to read it that way. (Not gonna object if they do...)

Mostly I'm just astounded by how quickly this came together. It was like I was possessed. Granted, I have been thinking about pairing this song and this concept for a couple months, but all my other vids have required days or weeks of outlining on a spreadsheet, then weeks of fiddling around in iMovie, adding things all out of order, replacing clips and moving them around until the vid looks nothing like my outline. This time I didn't even get to the spreadsheet; it was purely a case of, "Open iMovie, lay clips in complete linear order, reach end of song, go, 'Wait, WHAT?!' and make about two editorial changes." I am still boggling massively.

Ohhhhhh man, I have I ever been there. Writing, occasionally drawing. It's just like things happen, and you're just transcribing. I love that feeling, but it never fails to be the teensiest bit scary.

It is rage-inducing and I don't recommend you actually read it, but I foolishly did, and GAH.

I've had the possessed feeling when writing, but I didn't think it would happen with vidding--it's so much more technical, and constrained by the materials available, that there seemed to be no room for that kind of thing.
