One day I'm going to finish fiddling with my big B5 ensemble vid. For now, a shorter, sadder one that walked up to me and demanded to be made.
Title: West of the Moon and East of the Sun
Song/Artist: "A Good Day (Morning Song)," Priscilla Ahn
Summary: John Sheridan was an optimist to the very end. Based largely around "Sleeping in Light."
Length: 2:37
Note: Given how many similarities B5 bears to LOTR, I felt it only right that I get the title from Return of the King. The full quotation is, "A day will come at last when I / Shall take the hidden paths that run / West of the Moon, East of the Sun."
Download Quicktime file at MediaFire (25 MB).

Date: 2010-10-29 01:01 am (UTC)I should have known. I can never watch Sleeping in Light without crying. It's somehow comforting to know B5 still has the power to move me, and your vid taps into the best of the show.

Heh. Possibly I should've included a tissue warning?

Date: 2010-10-14 09:46 pm (UTC)And I, personally, didn't need tissues, but there was most assuredly heart string tugging. Of course, I am also not exactly known for my steller emotional displays, so I suppose it might be worthy of a tissue warning. :)

When I am normal I do not actually believe J/D shippers are a cult. Right now, though, I find "orange juice cult" to be a hilarious concept.)

Date: 2010-10-14 09:17 pm (UTC)Thank you! I think it's not so much that I like the pairing ('cause I still don't, alas) as that I enjoyed the chance to wallow in the bittersweet angst of the last episode.
(P.S. I have not forgotten about your other one - I promise!)

Seriously, though, this was gorgeous. Thanks for venturing over to the dark side for a bit and sharing. :)

Date: 2010-10-14 10:48 pm (UTC)Mwahaha. The whole thirty seconds from that shot to Delenn looking at the empty bench is my favorite part of the vid.
(I have mixed feelings about SiL as a whole; I tend to roll my eyes at Sheridan's Farewell Tour of the Galaxy, but everything with the decommissioning of B5 and pretty much every scene with Delenn, excepting that ridiculous "Goodnight my moon" thing, makes me rather verklempt.)
And thank you! I'm glad you liked it.

I love the choice of shots you used here, and the way they work so perfectly with the music, and, yes, the pillow thing and the bench thing and AUGH. "Sleeping in Light" annoys me sometimes with how totally over the top it is, but all the bits you included are just so perfect and lovely.

Date: 2010-10-16 04:29 am (UTC)(Oh, lord, SiL. I dislike large chunks of it, but Mira and Claudia in particular are breathtaking every moment they're on screen or doing a voiceover. It's possible that I bawl like a baby when the station is decomissioned.)

Date: 2010-10-16 06:45 am (UTC)it's (and I'm saying it with all my love for this show) not exactly vidding friendly
Oh, TELL me about it! I've made another vid already for this show (a Talia one), and I'm just about done with a third, ensemble vid, and though this one went remarkably quickly, the other two were a huge struggle. So many of the big important moments on the show occurred pretty much entirely in dialogue, with Sheridan speechifying in front of a group for minutes on end or Ivanova looking intense in the captain's chair of a White Star or something. The show being based so much on ideas and dialogue was great, but it's definitely not a canon that's easily viddable.

Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
