Seeing the squee on my flist about Yuletide nominations opening up gave me an idea. What do y'all think of a meme where people can promote their fic/vids/art/etc. in small fandoms and/or rare pairs/rare characters from bigger fandoms? So readers(/watchers/etc.) could get the glow of, "I never knew I needed fic for that, but now I do and there it is and this is awesome!" that comes from Yuletide, or the sweet, sweet triumph of finally finding something for that insanely rare pairing on page fifty-four of the Google results, but a couple months early. Creators could have some place to post that fic for some obscure fandom that doesn't have a community or an archive, so it languished on their own journals, unread by potential fans.

Would this be something others are interested in, or would I just be having a party by myself?

I'm not sure I have anything rare-pairing/fandom enough for it, but it sounds like an absolutely awesome idea.

I'm planning to take a broad view of "rare" and ask people to use their best judgment. For myself, if there are fewer than 50ish things out there for a fandom or a pairing (perhaps more if those things are ancient), I'm planning to put it up. I'm sure you've got something!

Sounds like a good idea to me. I know I have a few stories that would fit into both "Rare fandoms" as well as "Rare pairings", and I'm always game to plug my own writing a bit. ;)

I'm not 100% sure I understand what you're proposing (is this just for stuff we did for Yuletide or stuff we have kicking around?) but I like it!

Not necessarily for Yuletide stuff (although that will be welcome), but more for stuff like that Lyta/Franklin commentfic you wrote me a few weeks ago, or my Astaire/Rogers moviefics. Old or new, long or short, whatever, just so long as it's rareish! (Taking a broad view on rare, too.)

Don't you have some Fraser/Thatcher fic? I don't plan on policing anyone's pimpage unless it's really egregiously Not Rare, but for myself, I'm on the fence as to whether it would be considered rare enough. As a percentage of dS fic, it's tiny, there's quite a bit by sheer numbers.

I have written like a paragraph of a Fraser/Thatcher fic, and it's lost on an old hard drive. I should revive it, maybe? Because there needs to be more Fraser/Thatcher in the world.
