1. CHARLIIIIIIIIIIE! Charlie was one of my favorite characters! *sniff* But I see from IMDB that Kirk Acevedo is in some other episodes, so I assume we're going to get an alternate Charlie at some point. Whether he'll be as likable as the original remains to be seen...
2. Upon reflection, "August" does not make the most sense, but I think it still might be my favorite episode, largely because Peter Woodward is freaking amazing. He played the hell out of his role as an Observer who finds that Christine "crossed his mind and never left." It was incredible.
3. On a shallow note, Olivia has been rocking the buns and braids lately. I approve.

ARAL! NOOOOOOO!
Why is there a book where Aral only appears to DIE, and then not even on screen? Why? This is NOT ON! Maybe LMB's planning another book set somewhere earlier in the timeline all about him and Cordelia? Pretty please?
You know, maybe it was just that I'd had eight years to build up expectations for this installment and nothing could have measured up to them, but I was not as thrilled as I was hoping. Don't misunderstand, it was still good! The story itself was exciting, and the cast of new characters was fun (Jin and his animals were cute), and Miles was entertaining as always (though the idea of him as father to a brood of small children is something I'm still trying to wrap my head around), but...I sorely missed a good chunk of the usual gang, particularly Cordelia and Aral (always Cordelia and Aral), Ivan, Ilyan, Alys, and Gregor. It was nice seeing Mark and especially Kareen again, and Roic and Raven are definitely good times, but...yeah, let's face it, my preference is for our usual cast of characters getting involved in Barrayaran royal intrigue, so this was never going to be the next Barrayar or A Civil Campaign for me.
Though I did get a big cackle out of Miles's assertion that "Where I come from, someone's head in a bag is generally considered the best revenge." *SNERK*

Date: 2011-05-30 06:57 pm (UTC)CHARLIIIIIIIIIIE!
As the alternate universe thing was being revealed, I was thinking, "Oh, this is a convenient plot device - now they have a backup copy of everybody (except Peter). I wonder if this will cheapen the emotional impact of offing people?" NOOOOOOOOOOOO! I know they've already shown us Scarface!Charlie, butbutbut it's not the same! (Although I should've known something was up when they gave him that huge infodump of backstory and character development in the hospital, sigh...)
Um, was it just me, or was that car crash THE MOST DRAMATIC ENTRANCE EVAR?? Olivia can be incredible while not even conscious. BAM! Season premiere: PWNED.
(Also, I wonder if Peter goes to door-kicking-in ranges like cops go to firing ranges. He seems to really enjoy it. Like, sometimes he doesn't even try the knob first, lol.)
Shallowly speaking, I would like to give an Emmy to the person in wardrobe who found all those dark jeans and tight shirts for Peter. I approve.

Olivia does indeed know how to make an entrance.

IN. DEED.

Peter is a bit...overenthusiastic, yes.
Heh heh, costuming on this show is quite good, yes. (Wait'll you get to "Brown Betty"!)

but not quite a replacement. :(
I have a feeling he won't be. Too bad Charlie was cramping Peter's style as sidekick. I liked him and his emphysema. : (

It's gotten so that I can't even take him seriously when he's kicking a door in anymore! It is this season's drinking game!

Especially considering how monotonous the clothing for the main cast is - it's a high standard of monotony! And it occurred to me what's odd about Olivia As Action Hero: she dresses conservatively! Is this even Fox anymore??? Where am I???

Date: 2011-05-31 11:55 pm (UTC)Well, minus the gratuitous black bra and underwear that are apparently necessary for LSD-fueled trips in the sensory-deprivation tank, anyway...
Is this even Fox anymore??? Where am I???
It is kind of an un-Foxlike show, isn't it? Although Scully dressed pretty conservatively too.

Biggest lol about Other!Olivia: she actually owns a white bra!! It's obviously an alternate universe!!
Although Scully dressed pretty conservatively too.
Ah, yes, I will gladly subscribe to the notion that Scully is the root of all awesome things!

XF and Fringe are kind of Fox's only two reputable shows, aren't they?

Date: 2011-06-05 11:44 pm (UTC)Well, and various Joss things. And some cartoons. But yeah, sci-fi and animation are basically the only thing Fox can do properly.
