Bad Idea Bear Says Write

Hmmmm. The Bad Idea Bear on my shoulder is whispering in my ear about rereading Ethan of Athos and then writing improbable crossover femslash pairing Elli Quinn and Susan Ivanova.*

There is also a possibility that I have a couple lines of dialogue written for a crossover where Delenn and Laura Roslin have a chat. I still haven't figured out how they might actually meet, but I'm leaning toward "Laura has a vision and meets Delenn in it."

In other news, Dear Brain: Just because our fake TV series includes a variant of Space Elves does not mean the characters need to have names straight out of Tolkien. Please to be coming up with less silly ones.

* Who is apparently my little black dress for ALL OF FANDOM EVER. Oh, the irony.

I fully endorse this idea!!! And will happily (gleefully!) beta it for you when you're done if it happens to be not-spoilery for whatever point I happen to be at by then. And if it is then I'll just bounce and be excited and happy until I get to read it.

I haven't (yet) had that problem with any of the space elves, but whenever I write something with proper elves (more often than I'd like to admit), I have a tendency to accidentally crib names from the Silmarillion. It's a bit embarrassing.

I shall try to actually write this fic, then! Er, no promises. Since my Cordelia/Laura/Susan/Delenn crossover fic has been languishing unwritten for more than a year now...

I figure if you're writing real elves, you might as well crib from Tolkien. Especially the Silmarillion; I mean, it's not like many people besides you and I have even read the damn thing. ;) Unfortunately, my space elves are...well, okay, let's be honest: they're basically the Minbari. Except maybe they're evil! The meme is just to come up with a synopsis/character descriptions for a TV show with cast members given to you by someone else, so I don't actually have to decide for sure whether they're evil or not; that would be the driving conflict of the show, at least at first. (Of course, being me and being unable to write anything until I have all the details straight in my head, I already know that they're...not really EVIL, but maybe too secretive, and perhaps have done bad things in the past, but it's all been in the service of trying to hold off an big, bad, powerful alien race, which of course humans will have to help them do, and it will turn into a shooting war...

Yeah, so, when I actually post this thing, I'm just going to claim "postmodern pastiche!" and run for the hills.)
