I wonder if I would enjoy TSNotD more now that I'm both older and have read Dorothy Sayers. (Probably not, since I didn't really like Dorothy Sayers...)
Blackout, at least, is not nearly as tragic as Passage or even Doomsday Book, but it is more serious than TSNotD. Without giving the plot away, I can say that there are a lot of tense moments that don't necessarily add to the body count.
However, I think we can all agree that the writing is amazing, even if we don't have the same style preferences.
