Fringe: "Bloodline"

First off, in case you haven't heard, Fringe got renewed for a full, 22-episode fourth season! I am utterly astonished and very grateful. Apparently the move to Fridays actually was an attempt to save it, and it worked! Yay!
Thoughts on last night's episode:
Oh, evil Walternate, never change! I was wondering where you were hiding. Let me guess, the baby is going to be shunted into that machine ASAP because he's genetically similar enough to Peter for it to work. (Although in that case, Walternate himself has an equal chance of powering the machine...but I guess he wouldn't want to sacrifice himself.) I guess experimenting on children is okay when they're related to you?
The "accelerated pregnancy" made me roll my eyes a whoooooooooooole lot, but then again, at least they aren't dragging the angst out forever and ever and are apparently jumping straight to the evil machinations, so on the whole, I approve. The birth scene even made me give a damn about Fauxlivia, which is impressive, since of late I have spent red universe episodes resenting her for taking time away from Ourlivia. And awww, Lincoln. I wonder if she even remembers what he said, and if so, what she'll do about it.
I also approve of the incipient rebellion in those final scenes with Scarlie and Lincoln. And of Henry coming back! I love Henry! Given that Walternate probably meant for Fauxlivia to die in that procedure so he could have unrestrained access to the kid, I bet she's going to use some maternal instinct to throw a wrench in whatever plans he has, and be backed up by Scarlie, Linc, Henry, and perhaps even the "real" versions of the characters from the blueniverse. Fauxlivia's mom joining them would be good too, 'cause more Amy Madigan is an excellent thing.

Date: 2011-06-08 04:12 am (UTC)GAH I hadn't thought of that! Are they going to continue to accelerate the kid's growth, then? Or else they want the kid to have Olivia's universe-crossing powers? I'm kinda sensing that there's no way this kid's childhood can't suck, if he even makes it that far.
I had many inappropriate lols during the whole accelerated-pregnancy nonsense, but I was still highly impressed that even Fauxlivia can rescue herself. While drugged up! And magically-nine-months pregnant!
I was SO EXCITED when it looked like maybe, just maybe, they were going to acknowledge that Olivia Dunham, Superhero, occasionally has to tinkle. But, much like my similar excitement at the gas station with Henry, it led to naught. Alas!
I kind of love Lincoln's not-so-secret torch-carrying. I was all, "This birth scene is patently ridiculous! It should not have emotional resonance! Why am I- awwwwwwwwwwwwwww!"
On a side note, I am so jealous of all of the black latex-free gloves and surgical masks on Fringe. All we get at work is generic light-blue. If I could wear pitch-black medical gear everyday I would feel like a ninja.
(Btw, I'm guessing that Olivia's VPE is a red-only thing, right? Since our Rachel didn't have it?)

A mere accelerated pregnancy and lots of drugs can't keep any Olivia down!

I think Walter gets all the bathroom breaks on this show.

Awwwwwwww! I find Lincoln to be kind of a jerk, but he's...sort of an adorable one? I too was surprised at how much I enjoyed that stupid birth scene.

Then you could get matching eyemasks for the dogs and have a whole ninja cadre!

I think the VPE is a disease that only exists in the red universe, yeah.

He stole them!!

He's not a jerk, he's just... horrible at keeping secrets? Okay, so maybe that was a liiiittle jerky. But other than that!

MY LIFE WOULD BE COMPLETE.
