Drive-by song rec: "Little Romance," by Ingrid Michaelson. I think it's interesting for two reasons: One, it's rare to see such aggressive pursuit of a male subject by a female speaker in, you know, pop music, especially using fairly gendered expressions like "I will sweep...you off your feet." Two, I like the way both the lyrics and music start out kind of light and flippant, with lines like, "I see you styled that hair / There doesn't seem to be much of it there," and the idea of both subject and speaker being "in the mood" for a non-specific "little romance," and yet a certain sincerity overwhelms the song by the last third, when the music and Michaelson's delivery swells at "If it's the only chance I get / If it's the only chance then get / Ready to throw your shoes away / For I will sweep, sweep, sweep / You off your feet." And in the last verse, speaker and subject are no longer in the mood for general "romance," but rather, as the speaker puts it, "I'm in the mood for you / You're in the mood for me."

Plus the song is damn catchy. Like, "downloaded it yesterday evening and already iTunes says I've played it 157 times," kind of catchy.

I'm unsure whether to be optimistic or pessimistic about tonight's Castle. On the one hand, I've been unwilling to believe anything that comes out of the PTB for this show's mouths since that annoying finale last year. I'm sure the network execs are putting enormous pressure on them to keep Castle and Beckett apart for another ten years if they can.

However, I read an interview with Andrew Marlowe about three weeks ago where he said that this episode is going to feature a "walls of Jericho" moment for C&B, and It Happened One Night is one of my very, very favorite movies, so hell, I think I might love anything even remotely similar to it, especially that scene.

(Although...I wonder if he meant that teaser scene that got linked by everyone and their mom over the past couple days? The one where B&C are having a mini heart-to-heart, then she goes into her room, shuts the door, looks indecisive for few moments, then opens it and the clip cuts off, I mean. [P.S. I am willing to bet a lot of money that she opens it not because she's finally giving into Castle, but because she had a case-related epiphany.] The "walls of Jericho" in the movie is much funnier, though, so maybe he meant a different scene.]

We shall see. The Heat Wave set hijinks should be entertaining, at any rate.

Thank you for the song recommendation! The gender role reversal might make it interesting for a fanmix I have been pondering for quite some time. Hmmm...
