I saw a meteor breaking up once. The trails spanned half the sky, both in width and length. It was awesome.

That sounds amazing. I've never seen a meteor. I saw a comet once, but it was very dull, just a small fuzzy patch in the sky. I also saw the northern lights when they extended into Ohio while I was at college; more small fuzzy patches, this time green and red. Nifty because it was so far south, but nothing like videos of it from more northerly latitudes.
