Fringe speculation based on episode titles

This appears to be the schedule through November:

10/21 - Neither Here Nor There (#401 Repeat)
10/28 - Novation (#405)
11/04 - And Those We’ve Left Behind (#406)
11/11 - Wallflower (#407)
11/18 - Back To Where You’ve Never Been (#408 - Fall Finale)

I am really, really excited by the title of 408. Like really. Like it sounds as if someone besides Peter will start remembering the Blueverse timeline.

(...I need Olivia and Walter to remember it, okay? I just...I can't lose the past three years. I can't. I don't necessarily want a complete reset, because some things about the Amberverse are great. I definitely hope there's a merging of some kind [Nina needs to continue being Olivia's godmother or whatever she was], but if I had to, I would throw the Amberverse under a bus for Blueverse with no regrets. I have a feeling that these mixed emotions are exactly what the writers are hoping we feel, so...yay for them? As long as they eventually give Olivia and Walter their memories back?)

I'm really, really hoping we end up getting a blend of Amber and Blue. I'd like Olivia and Walter and the rest to remember what it was like to live in a world without Peter, because I think that's a huge deal. Wild speculation: if Peter was able to integrate Blue and Red, would he be able to integrate just himself (Blue) into Amber?

Because I'm with you: I don't want to give up Amberverse completely. I don't want to just reset the beginning of this season and wash it all away. There is just too much interesting stuff going on. (I legit squealed when Nina and Olivia were all cute together. I NEEEEEEED that.) But I also don't want Peter and Walter and Peter and Olivia to have to start from scratch.

Yes, definitely. Ideally, I think I'd like it to start out with them remembering everything from both timelines equally, but the Amber timeline fades to echoes as the season continues. (Mostly because I don't think I could keep up with two entirely separate timelines that are equally canon.)

I think my speculations have been going along this same track, if I'm understanding you correctly. I sort of think that they might give everyone their memories of Peter back, but the actual timeline will continue as Amber, so Baby Henry won't exist, Amber!Lincoln will still be around, Olivia's stepfather would still be dead, etc. At this point, I'd prefer things go back to Blue with lingering Amber memories, but if this is what we get, I'll take it.

That was so awesome! Best part of the episode for me, actually.

But I also don't want Peter and Walter and Peter and Olivia to have to start from scratch.

THIS. It would feel like a slap in the face to the audience. "Hey, you watched for three seasons and got to love these people, but now they're gone forever, mwahaha!" Also, I think having the Walter/Peter and Peter/Olivia relationships start from scratch, even if they're all somewhat different people from who they were in S1, would be too repetitive. I'm pretty sure I would grow bored if they did that for more than, say, three or four episodes. Another reason why episode eight would be the perfect time to have some Blue memories resurface...

Really? All I've seen thus far in S4 is PEEETTTTEEEERRRR WHERE AAAAARE YOOOOOOOU. I've read recaps that were straight-up "there was no Peter so I don't really care." I honestly do think they struck the perfect balance of not having him come back too soon, but having him gone just long enough that we were anxious for his return and excited by it - it would have been far, far too pat to have him come back in the season premiere. (Glaring at Mulder forever.)

I love Peter, I do, but I've loved seeing this world without him, and I think it's been such a fabulous quasi-meta commentary on how characters don't grow and change in isolation, but in response and reaction to each other. Just the fact that the writers took the time to really think about how everyone would be different, and slipped in all those little moments and asides like the fact that Olivia would have ended up actually killing her stepfather, has been worth a few Peter-free episodes as far as I'm concerned.

I've seen a lot of that too, but about half the posts on my friendsfriends and around DW seemed to be more in the "Peter's boring and I like the Amberverse better" vein. Which boggled me.

Oh, I like that! I hadn't thought of it in quite that way, but yes, absolutely.
