Castle

Everything about this episode rubbed me the wrong way. I'm officially over Castle and Beckett's "dance"; if they can't just talk to each other like normal people, then they are morons who don't deserve an hour of my time each week. Seriously, how hard would it be to say, "I'm not in the headspace to be with you right now, but if you're willing to wait, I'd like to investigate that further in x timeframe," or "Hey, there was this thing I said when you were dying and I still mean it and I'm willing to wait if you think it's a possibility in the future"? Not hard. The UST cow kicked it halfway through last season, Marlowe; quit trying to milk it.

So everything to do with that was boring (and if Michael Dorn turns into Sweets, I'm going to quit watching), the art theft case was boring, Martha was sweet but still boring. The only entertaining moment was Ryan, Esposito, and the SWAT team sharing the elevator with that poor dude.

At least next week is going to feature ghosts. I approve.

My mom bought a can of Tony Chachere's Seasoning (BTW, [livejournal.com profile] sleepingcbw or other Louisianans, how is that pronounced?), and duuuuude. I am going to put this on everything!

(Although possibly pinto beans don't need quite that much when it's also combined with a dose of chili powder...)

*

A random blast from the past: Seven of Nine and the Doctor singing "You Are My Sunshine"* and "My Darling Clementine," along with two other scenes. I shipped them so much after "Someone to Watch Over Me." Well, until I quit watching the show a year later out of sheer frustration. But they were adorable. ("Holodeck 2, tomorrow, 1600 hours. Just you, me...and a tuning fork.")

Relatedly, the Doctor provides an...interesting interpretation of "Rock-a-bye Baby."

* Enjoy the earworm. I'd apologize, but it's been in my head for a day now, and I lost all my sympathy long ago.

This one wasn't all bad! Well, the cattiness made me gag a bit, but I do enjoy a good heist. It was less depressing than last week's, anyway. (Even though it was nice to see Ryan get an episode.) The UST merry-go-round is getting way old, yes, but there was a tiny glimmer of forward motion this time? Or was it wishful thinking on my part? Eh. This keeps sinking lower and lower on my to-watch list. I just caught up with the last two eps today. It got a little bump only because you're still watching it, so I have someone to rant with. : ) Honestly, if it weren't for Nathan Fillion, I'd've dropped this by now. But I do love Nathan Fillion. Even if I keep comparing Beckett to Olivia and having Beckett come up so, so short.

Elevator: those two seconds were GOLDEN. Definitely the high point. And I was about to be really irritated by Castle being a total jerk in the "butler in the parlor with a candlestick" scene (come on, if the thief opened the art discreetly, you know there's gotta be a way in OTHER THAN KICKING IT), but him getting the Giant Bill O' Comeuppance made that okay. Especially with "Thank God I'm rich!" I lol'd.

I'm gonna go with that last one.

Sad but true, I fear.

If I lose the keep-Becca-company motivation, I may stop watching regularly as well. How about, after next week, you let me know if you catch wind of any returns to the geeky comedy they're so much better at? We'll just hit the highlights, hm?
