Well, that was definitely an improvement over the last two weeks. See, show, I like you when you're funny!
"Apparition-American." Heh.
"That's a Look. I get that all the time; just start walking. Quickly."
I enjoyed Castle and Beckett playing believer and skeptic, as they usually do. Although "The Ghosts Who Stole Christmas" is still the undisputed champion of "USTful partners go into a haunted house together" stories, this had some nicely creepy moments, and the detective as the killer was certainly a twist I did not see coming. (That said, I still think last year's "Close Encounters of the Murderous Kind" was their best XF homage to date.)
I also enjoyed Esposito and Ryan joining in so we had two believers and two skeptics for the case. Beckett and Esposito continuously rolling their eyes at the other two was amusing.
The double date seemed kind of pointless. To be honest, I'd pretty much forgotten that Esposito and Lainie were even dating.
But I think what I most enjoyed about this was Beckett's hair, which was GORGEOUS! Can she put it up in buns and braids for every episode? I really, really loved her short hair in S1, and have never much liked the generic overly-highlighed long hair she's had since S2, so this was a nice compromise. And the two curls in the front in the first half of the episode were lovely.
Next week: I think I have to watch this, because Castle and Martha as hostages in a bank hold up? That looks like it might actually be good.

Date: 2011-10-25 06:42 am (UTC)The thing I loved so much about the haunted house scene was how Beckett was so unfailingly fearless. For she is a BADASS! Just awesome.
I actually liked the dinner scene. Hey, if they wanna spend time showing us Ryan and Esposito being adorable, who am I to argue?

Fearless!Beckett was nice. I also liked her (obviously a joke, but still funny) story about her "paranormal experience."

Haha YES!
Beckett's hair, which was GORGEOUS!
... It took me about twenty minutes to realize that it was intentional, and that she didn't just sleep in it. It sorta grew on me, though.
Favorite part? Castle using Alexis as a human shield while watching zombies.

Date: 2011-10-26 03:50 am (UTC)My thoughts exactly. Especially since I just took a stroll down memory lane by way of my Castle tag, and man, the episodes in S1 and S2 were so much better. Or maybe I just had lower expectations then.
Haha YES!
That's still pretty much one of my favorite episodes of anything ever.

I wasn't so wild about the braid she wore in the second half, but I loveloveloved the bun from the beginning. So pretty.
