Castle 4.09: "Kill Shot"
Nov. 21st, 2011 10:14 pmWell, considering I figured I would have to turn the episode off halfway through out of RAGE, this went better than I thought it would. Mostly because Esposito is awesome. Loved the way they integrated his military sniper history.
I guess it's good that they aren't just pretending that Beckett's shooting would have no psychological effect at all, but...gotta admit that watching those effects holds zero interest for me. Watching her not realize she's doing her job badly because of those effects was really annoying. Isn't this the same woman who let Jordan Shaw bump her from a case because it was too personal and didn't argue about it? Where was that Kate Beckett?
I did like that she acknowledged at the end that her mother's death had formed an unhealthily large part of her self-image, and that she wanted to move past it even, I think she implied, if it never gets solved. Too bad finding out Castle's little secret, whenever that happens, is almost certainly going to screw all that up.
Gates was not as much of a pain in the ass as usual, but neither was she a shining star. The best I can give her is "meh," which is at least a step up from "ugh."

And isn't it sad how predictable it all is? ::sighs::
Esposito was the only saving grace.

Yep. After season one, my expectations for this show were so high! And season two largely lived up to them! And then last year...and now this year's even worse...
Esposito was the only saving grace.
Yep.
