And such fun uses of the footage, too, both with and against the original source - just to take two examples, I love the use of the corps de ballet vs. Peter P. Peters for the "every snowflake's different" lines, but then also the Continental sequence, since that's all *about* escaping into the crowd.

Hee, I'm pleased to see this get noticed! Peter the special snowflake vs. the ballet seemed like such a natural connection for that line, and I love how in "The Continental," Mimi and Guy are trying to escape into the crowd, but they can't help creating this space for themselves basically through the sheer power of their awesome.

(BTW, since I take it you're a big Fred and Ginger fan--OMG YAY!--you might be interested in the other vids I have for them. /shameless self-pimping :D)

I have to admit, I know Top Hat and Shall We Dance best - and have never seen Carefree - but more vids? Oh, goodie!

Shall We Dance is my favorite. I think it hangs together the best, and marriage of convenience is my bulletproof narrative kink. Plus Linda and Peter are such fun characters. I like the dancing in Roberta and Follow the Fleet best, though. (And I admire how the dance sequences are used narratively in Top Hat and Swing Time...yeah, basically I have a reason to like ALL of them best! :D)

Carefree is one of those movies that's really entertaining on the first go-round, and then you realize later how SUPER CREEPY it is. Worth watching for Ginger's drug-induced crime spree and the send-up of Freudian theory, though.
