WHY, GOD? WHY DO YOU TRY US SO?? It's only June! I don't expect this crap until the end of July!

(P.S. Lest you think the big suns in that picture and the lack of rain mean it won't be humid, our usual humidity in the summer hovers somewhere around three thousand percent. Possibly that is hyperbole. Point is, add 5-10 degrees of heat index to that, 'cause it's going to be muggy.)

If anyone needs me, I'll be under my fan.

I visited North Carolina one summer and remember weather like that. Not. Pleasant.

(I'm not a fan of dry heat either, which is what they get where my husband is from. It's still hot!)

I used to think summer was okay. Apparently I got less heat tolerant as I got older. It's also been hotter in recent years; I think the new 30-year average for summer (1981-2010 instead of 1979-2000) went up by about two degrees F.

Over here in Virginia my mother has officially decreed that the word superhot must be reserved for 105F and above; 99F no longer qualifies. Though she refuses to consider heat index for some weird reason. So far we actually haven't hit 100, though we've had it forecasted, so take that for what it's worth.

I don't think we've officially hit 100 yet this year either, though we've still got all of July and August and I'm sure it'll happen. Ugh.
