Should I go see Pippin? There's a small scale pro production of it in the next county over that recasts it in a circus, which sounds entertaining. I don't think I've ever even heard the soundtrack, but Stephen Schwartz did Wicked, and that's promising, right?

I have seen several (all student) productions of Pippin, the first when our college theater did it way back in the day; also, I own the Broadway cast album (on vinyl, yet). I'd absolutely recommend it, especially given the review at the link; it's a fun show if something of an odd duck (as the tone changes noticeably in the second half). While I would hesitate to call Pippin one of my very favorite musicals, it has some of my very favorite songs in it, and I think out of all the musicals I've seen live, I've seen more different productions of it than of any other show.

Go. And be prepared to sing along in the appropriate spot(s). [Trust me, it's in the script....]
