Ficcy business
May. 6th, 2003 03:00 pmSo I'm going through my fic folder (because of course I need to be doing this during finals week). You know you've been writing fic, and a lot of it, for a very long time when you can read several in a row and not have any clue what's going to happen next.
Some of the stuff, even the ones from '99 and further back, aren't that bad. A good bit of it is crap, but there are some flashes of decency here and there. There are a few I wouldn't mind finishing, actually. (And before you ask, I've only gone through my DS9, Northern Exposure, and crossover folders.) I'm kind of annoyed that I never finished any of my three fic-novels. I got all the way to 100 pages on one and just gave up.
Ah, well. I have this sudden urge to make good on that fic idea from '98 where Tom teaches B'Elanna to swing dance. Hey, I could have a series...I already had John teach Aeryn waltz, Tom could teach B'Elanna swing, Mulder and Scully do foxtrot (get it? Foxtrot? *waits for the groans to die down*), Maggie and Joel do tango... Hey, I kinda like this! Ballroomize my fics! Let's see, five Smooth/Standard dances, six Latin/Rhythm, at least five or six more fun dances (although I'm not sure who I'd stick with polka)...this could work.
And thus I can make my fic folder even bigger. I distinctly remember criticaly injuring Dars (I know at least a few of you shippers remember Daria!) when I virtually lobbed my fic folder at her for something. Hehehe.
In all seriousness, though, I'm thinking of cleaning out my folder by posting one unfinished ficlet a week or something here. Have to give it more thought, see if I can really put something up without spending hours editing it to make it look good... Hmmm.
(And yes, I swear, the DRD slash *points to icon* will be done one day soon-ish!)
