Orphan Black, first four episodes
Aug. 10th, 2013 10:31 pmIt took a couple episodes to get going, but...yeah, I can see why this is addictive. Whoever's in charge knows how to write a cliffhanger. Some scattered thoughts under the cut.
- Alison is my favorite clone so far. I imagine this is not a popular opinion in fandom at large, but I always love the uptight control freaky ones, and she's an excellent example.
- That said, Felix may be my favorite character. Poor, sweet Felix.
- Never thought I would be seeing Maria Doyle Kennedy in anything again. I only remember her from The Matchmaker. She hasn't aged a day in sixteen years.
- I'm enjoying Sarah's ineptness at police work, mostly because chasing after a suspect only to hope she doesn't actually catch said suspect because she really doesn't want to get shot is probably what I'd do.
- I was disappointed that the kid immediately recognized Alison wasn't her mother. Way too predictable, and also the dialogue for her aged about ten years in less than a second. Suddenly the kid's acting way older than five or whatever she is. Boo.
- So they didn't just make Cosima a religious studies or psychology grad student why, exactly? 'Cause she's done a lot of both of those things and not much "evolutionary biology." Arrrggghhh, TV writers, it's bad enough you mush together all the disparate scientific fields into general "genius scientist" characters, but dragging the humanities in takes it a little far, don't you think?
