Step to the side and do what now?
Jul. 7th, 2014 09:21 pmI discovered a YouTube channel where some skating school or outfit of some sort has posted videos of every single move in the USFS Basic Skills series. (Much of the stuff I've nattered about on here comes from Basic Skills, minus my MITF exercises.)
I also discovered that the eighth and final level includes THIS. What. What. How is a cross-behind at speed, in combination, in any way "basic"? (Yeah, okay, there's one in the Rhythm Blues pattern dance, which is the third dance on the test sequence of more than thirty and so could be considered basic-ish, but it's also one of the reasons dance is way damned harder than it looks.) I can't even do them in isolation at .05 miles per hour.
It's a good thing I don't actually have to pass a test on that thing. Well, I guess if I wanted to continue taking group classes into the Free Skate levels, I might, but...I don't. At that point, it's kids all the way down, and I'll stick with my coach, thanks.Once I get a new one.
