Aug. 3rd, 2014 02:12 pmWhen the gap needs stopping, the determined go shopping. The gel tubes push my feet too far up and crunch my toes, so I explored ways of getting the heels of my skates to fit better with cheap foam insoles and double-sided tape.
As you may be able to see from the color, I've already made extensive use of foam insoles to get these to fit, from padding along the bottom to extra arch support. I had a 2x2" patch of foam insole on the inside of each heel from my original attempt to make these fit last summer, which I ripped out to make room for the much bigger pieces on each side. I left about two finger-widths of room between the very back of the heel and the edge of each piece to keep from pushing my foot forward and to accommodate my touchy achilles tendon.
The process.
Skating, the sport that will make an engineer out of anyone. I just hope it actually works.
