Random question. Does anyone else write papers single-spaced before double-spacing them to turn them in? I appear to be the one person at Kenyon who does this. It can't be that odd, though; being able to see more of what you've written before without having to scroll back is a definite advantage, as is the psychological benefit of "yeah, I only have to have five pages instead of ten." It's a good thing, really.

I do that. Even when I print them out to go over the hard copy, I leave them single-spaced. Part of it's being able to see more at one time, like you said. Especially when I start out by plugging in my notes and writing around them. It's easier to split up the topics of the notes when they're single-spaced - more visually defining and all that.

But instead of telling myself I only have to write half as much, I usually just put in everything I've got, then double-space it and say "woo-hoo! I only have to add half a page/take out about a page!" ;) But yeah. I definitely do it that way.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. ;) I used to make giant outlines and then just plug extra stuff around them until I had enough, but I've found taht here, I get better grades if I just pull stuff out of my ass. I have no idea why. Something about more original thought and creative connections when you don't know where the hell you're going, I suppose, even though IMO the quality of the paper-writing itself suffers. Sigh...

Always write my papers single spaced and ouble space em at the very end. Easier to look back on, like you mentioned, and I tell myself I don't have to write as much. :D

I know people who do that, but I can't bring myself to do it. I need to know exactly how long the paper is at all times. I'm not sure why.

Yeah... I did that all the time when I had papers to write. Times Roman, 10 point, single spaced. Then fix it to what it's supposed to be and voila!! I went over the minimum page limit.
Psychological for me... made me fell liek I didn't have so much to write.

Whoa. I don't go so far as 10 point (I keep it at Times New Roman 12 pt.), but yeah. ITA.

People in my icon...? Considering I have 2 Star Wars, and an Alias icon... You're probably wondering about the Alias one (unless you think said guy looks like Yoda =))
But on Alias that's Will and Sark!!! Will = Sydney friend who had a major crush on her. He was actually in last weeks episode.
Sark = hottie from Oregon who does a killer brit accent on the show. He's a bad guy.
But they're both hot, so I put them on my icon list =)
