Once more into the Scape!
Jan. 3rd, 2004 12:45 amWas making Farscape icons and decided to get out the tapes. Hooray for memory lane. Remember the first season, when J/A shippers squeed at things like the happy face in DNA MS ("you would've fit in on Earth just fine") and the closeness in "They've Got a Secret"? Before we knew we'd eventually get episodes like, oh, Meltdown... *snicker* And the 500-message weekend of AHR? Oh, yeah. The only bad thing was that I had Sci-Fi Bitch on my tape. *shudders* *pokes SFB with a stick*
I really, really, really want the miniseries. Like right now.
Anyway, as promised, more icons. One day I will slow down with these... But I finally got results with fun downloaded brushes that I like, and I'm pretty well used to the differences in PS 7 (although will keep PS 6 around for the Kai's Power Tools filters that rock muchly).
Want/take/have/comment/share. There are plenty.

Yes, some of these are merely bases, with perhaps a black border on the edges. But really, some of these ust need no comment... ;)

Date: 2004-01-05 11:45 pm (UTC)*shudder* It would take me years to even get up to the current release, which of course would be several years out of date by the time I got there. (Of course, I say that, and then I end up doing marathon series-readings over summer vacations...)

Yet another reason why I never even started that one! Then again, I can't really talk, can I, given that I not only read Katharine Kerr, but am also an avid devotee of Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan series (uh...thirteen books now? With no end in sight?) and a relatively recent convert to David Weber's Honor Harrington series (ten-ish now, I think). But at least those aren't all 800-page tomes like Jordan's stuff. Meep.

I've actually just finished reading the most recent Honor Harrington book myself - started reading them in the second half of last year. And while they aren't Wheel of Time length, they certainly aren't all that short either - and seem to be getting longer! I actually don't know that I've liked the recent books as much as the first 4 or 5. He seems to "waffle" more now than he did originally.

I've only made it through the third one so far, but I have the next two. Sometimes it gets reeeeally difficult to slog through the technobabble and battlebabble, but Honor is great, so I keep slogging...

What gets me is that in the latter books, only every other chapter is about Honor, and the inbetween ones are about other characters. I mean it's not bad for plot development I suppose, but I preferred it when the books were mostly centred on her.
And one thing to say about the Honor Harrington novels. Don't get too attached to any characters!

Date: 2004-01-06 05:21 pm (UTC)I like some of the other characters...I can't remember names, 'cause it's been a while since I looked at them, but the young ensign or lietenant who was kind of like a puppy was fun, as is...Mika? Miko? Honor's buddy, anyway. I have a vision of her sitting on Honor down and giving her a makeover, with much hilarity ensuing. ;) One of the people on the Farscape-Shippers list was very active in the DW fanclub, and ended up in the 9th book as an Admiral in a supporting role. Very cool.

Heh. Yeah, I've run into that already. Ouch!
