So close...

I think we might get our connection restored tonight or tomorrow morning. Sreya took the sheet with all our initials on it down to LBIS this morning. *crosses fingers and toes*

So we had our first ballroom practice last night. Yay newbies! There are two guys who are really, really into the whole thing. I want about twenty clones of each of them, dammit. WE NEED MEN! There were actually rather a lot of guys there, although also a lot of girls. We did merengue (easiest dance ever) as the intro to the whole thing, and all the older female members ended up dancing as guys for the entire time. I actually quite like leading in Latin/Rhythm, 'cause the guy? Does NOTHING but the basic for, like, the entire time. If I compete this semester (I'm thinking either Michigan or Nationals, but not both and not anything else), I may lead newcomers. That could be fun.

And last night was fun for me because I actually knew more than some people! Yay! I wasn't making a complete fool of myself! Of course, that carefully-cultivated image of grace and coordinatedness was blown all to hell this morning when I slipped, practically did a split and covered my right leg in mud right in the center of Middle Path. That was pleasant.

The first Hika meeting was last night as well. Also entertaining. I proclaimed myself the grammar nazi, which hopefully didn't scare too many freshmen.

While my ego is kind of suffering from finding out that I didn't make Chamber Singers, my inner time manager is running around in circles and cheering. Same amount of credit for only about a quarter of the work with Community Choir, which is not a bad thing. Besides, pretty much everybody in CS has had music theory, it seems, and is in general more into the technical business of the whole vocal thing than I am, so I probably would've been in way over my head.

I think that's about it. I actually got some writing done last night (yay!) because I have nothing else to do. I have about fifty opening paragraphs, and nowhere to go on any of them, but I'm kind of working on my android-contemplates-suicide thingy. Oh, and I found my witch-sues-Hansel-and-Gretl-for-damages-to-house-and-psychological-trauma ficcy thing, which I started in junior year of HS and never finished. Pezzers want me to finish it. I want me to finish it. One day I will finish it.

And nwo that we've had that weird journey into my creative mind, I think I'll stop and leave now...

YES!!!

Mather's connection has been restored!!!!!

WHEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

ETA: All that reading ahead and actually getting homework done weeks before it was due business? It now comes to a screeching halt because I will lose entire days into LJ, I know it. Will try not to, but it'll happen. Ah, well. I can use Hermione online again! Yayayayayayay!!!

Ow. Tired. Sore. First competitive team practice of the year. It was only an hour instead of two, and I'm completely worn out. Soooo out of shape. Remember nothing of technique for anything. Don't remember steps for most anything. We did the Int'l Rumba basic for most of the time 'cause of newbies, and dude. Ow. But it's coming back, slowly, slowly, slowly... Then we did various cha-cha (still suck at that), hustle (Kate and I couldn't do anything but the basic), swing (Peter managed to teach me three new moves he'd learned over the summer in the course of one song, and it all felt good, so yay!), and waltz (still love it). Ksenia played that damn "Sweetheart Tree" song for waltz, for which we all nearly shot her. Then she followed it up with the DAMNED Moulin Rouge hustle/merengue mix-thingy that we did at Phling last year and all got thoroughly sick of. But still, it was fun. Exhausting, but fun. Probably not going to the next comp. practice on Wednesday, or any Wed. after that 'cause of choir and a general long day on Tues./Thurs.

Speaking of long days, I get to have the funfun experience of three classes in a row, Writing Center training, and then the ballroom officers' dinner meeting tomorrow. Gone from 9 int he morning until 7 at night. Oh, God.

Also found out today that my roomie, Kate, reads fanfic.

In shock.

Really, really happy. *bounce*
