I really should just stop going to fanfiction.net, because it always makes my blood pressure rise. But can I just say that I am REALLY, REALLY SICK of portmanteaus? People. Enough. If I see one more "Sheyla, "McShep," or "McWeir," I'm gonna scream. There was a "Teyden" in one summary. TEYDEN, FOR GOD'S SAKE. If you can't see the bad in this, then I don't know what to tell you. ("Shweir" has even started to annoy me, though I can understand the Wayne's World humor of it. But. Still.)
And is there some reason why people refuse to use "/" between names anymore when they're not combining them in hideous combinations? The slash key isn't hard to find, people! (Not that slash key. Although having a key for it would be amusing.)
*headdesk*
(Also: Spam spam spammity spam! You can always tell when I'm on some kind of vacation!)

Date: 2005-01-25 07:02 pm (UTC)It would be interesting to catalogue which fandoms use which listings, though. I've only seen portmanteaus for Smallville, Buffy and Atlantis. I doubt you'd see listings for "Sack" or "Dank" in SG-1. ;)
(I do think ff.net may take out / in summaries, though. I know many will strip \. I wonder if Thing1//Thing2 wuld show up as Thing1/Thing2.)

"I keep hitting the slash key but those silly boys still aren't shagging!" I do have to wonder about the blackslash key now...

Leaving aside entirely the amusement that Thing 1/Thing 2 would engender, of course. *snerk*

Date: 2005-01-26 04:54 am (UTC)Was it you who came up with that? (I was already on sheppard_n_weir at the time, but I don't remember who first posted about it.) So it's you I have to blame? ;)

For which I am most grateful.

I do so love that list. Most of the time.
