Movies, photos, etc.
Jun. 26th, 2005 05:15 pmPsst, anybody know of good, free software that makes web albums basically like what's seen at LJ Pics or MyPhotoAlbum, but then lets you upload them to your own webserver? There seem to be several around, and I really just want recommendations if anyone's used any of them. Non-PHP is preferred, as I've never used it and know nothing about it.

Saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith this afternoon. It could've been about 45 minutes shorter, but was still entertaining, which is really all you can ask from a summer movie. I wasn't sure it was possible to be more ludicrous than Alias, but this was. Oh, this was. It was kind of like Moonlighting (remember the episode where they were bouncing around in a mattress store? I was having flashbacks) meets the Spy!Fam. And tell me I wasn't the only Scaper who saw this and felt a desire to yell "Crackers. Don't. Matter!" at a certain point. Heh.

Date: 2005-06-27 06:53 pm (UTC)I find their forums to be very useful, as pretty much every question I've had has been asked and answered already. If there's anything I can try to answer for you, don't hesitate to ask!

Date: 2005-06-28 03:10 pm (UTC)Ah, see, I use a Mac, so I think I would have to have the Remote thing if I wanted to upload whole folders.
I tried installing the stuff on my webspace, but it won't even let me get to the config screen; there's some kind of parse error in the config.php document. I hunted through the forums for answers to parse error questions, but no matter where the error occured, the solution was reupload, which is doing nothing for me. I could post and ask for help, but I think at this point it's just gotten too damn complicated for my limited patience. (Also, my computer literacy is at about a fourth-grade reading level. *g*) The thought of possibly fiddling with code does not appeal. I think I might have more luck with Coppermine, which is at least giving me an install/config screen, even if my webhost seems reluctant to actually create/name/authorize/whatever the mySQL database they promised me...
