Hee. "Terror of the Zygons" is soooo cheesy, but so much fun. And I'm only halfway through. Love the monster that's barely half a step up from the old black and white Godzilla movie.

Is Huckle supposed to be American, or Scottish with an accent that got blown very off-course?

"The Armageddon Factor" also showed up from Netflix today. Hey, it's both Romanas! Sort of! But not really! The ending was a bit...anticlimactic, but oh well. And it was totally not written near the height of the Cold War. NOT AT ALL. *coughcoughmutualassuredestructioncough*

ETA: Aw, according to the commentary, Mary Tamm's a Harry Potter fan. Hee!

Why are Charley and the Doctor arguing about architectural styles in this fic I'm trying desperately to finish that has NOTHING TO DO with architecture? Why has Frank Lloyd Wrong entered into it? Why do I have the Doctor actually calling him "Frank Lloyd Wrong"? *facepalm* (Although you know Eight would be all, "Dude, your houses are boring. Give them a few arches, or a turret somewhere, or some decorative trim!")

Still soliciting a beta for it, BTW. Preferably someone who can cut out the overly twee bits, but anyone who's good at noticing my sentences of excessiveness would be grand.

I haven't watched "The Armageddon Factor" in ages, but I do recall it scaring the crap out of me when I was young and impressionable (and easily scared by the ideas on DW even if the monsters themselves were a bit crap). Loved it, though I was rather creeped out by the idea of Romana modeling herself after Astra.

I'd be happy to give your fic a look as long as it's not going to spoil me for anything past "Chimes of Midnight," since that's as far as I am through the audios. Let me know.

I think you need to see them at a more impressionable age for that kind of thing to work. ;)

Quite possibly, though, again, the reason I still find the Cybermen terrifying (especially this most recent bunch) is because of the idea behind them, much more so than the actual visuals. And I'll confess that Sutekh still scared me when watching PoM last week, but that's probably also because he scared the living shit out of me when I was a kid as much as the idea of a creature like that existing.

Alas, I don't want to spoil myself, either, so I guess I will pass on the fic :( Maybe I'll be more caught up next time!

Astra's "death": There's some feeling in fandom that we didn't quite see the truth at the end, that Astra couldn't have been turned back into a person and was hidden again as part of the key in some new part of the galaxy. Not a theory I subscribe to, of course, being too much of an optimist. But that's the idea among some fans. :?P

Am I shallow to just say I love Mary Tamm's outfit in Armageddon Factor?

Oh, and Drax amuses me quite a bit. *snerk*
