I think I hate change most when it comes to food. Twinnings just changed their teabag packaging over here. Not only do you get five fewer teabags for the same price (argh), but the individual bags don't come in a paper wrapper that you can leave attached to the string anymore. Now it's a plasticy tear-off pouch and a little card tag at the end of the string. I liked the paper wrappers because they let me squeeze the teabag at the end without burning my fingers.

(Yes, I know, sacrilege. But since I also steep my tea for twenty minutes and use no less than three sugars in a cup, I figure it's the least of my sins.)

That's some funky packaging. Although...when you squeeze the tea bag, it's to get the last bit of tea, yes? Does putting the bag on a spoon and wrapping the string around the bag to squeeze it help? I guess I'm just confused about the squeezing at the end thing.

Twenty minutes?! That's some really strong tea!

Oh, maybe you'd know: I'm looking for a new tea mug. I'd like it to be pretty (not just a solid colour), able to hold about 350ml, and microwave safe. Any suggestions?

::life comes to a screeching halt::

Twinnings changed their packaging? They SUCK!

I should make a tea icon. I think that's a terrible oversight on my part.

Very generous of you, however I have addressed this oversight. ::points to icon::

::happy...though maybe not about Twinnings being cheap bastards::

Actually, that would probably work just as well, come to think of it. I'm just so used to using the paper as a barrier between the hot teabag and my skin while I squeeze it with my thumb and index finger that I overlooked it.

Ah, okay, I've never really seen any other technique.

Eh, that's nothing. We steep our usual pot of iced tea for up to four hours, depending on how lazy we feel. (That would be two "family-size" teabags in a quart of water, diluted with another quart of plain water after it's steeped.) ;) I like it to be tea, not just brown water!

Wow. I am too impatient for that sort of thing. I want my tea by the time my toast is done, so I can have tea and vegemite on toast. Mmmm. :)

Have you tried much of the chai? I've got bags of both black tea chai (decaf, yay!) and green tea chai (antioxidants zomg). I like other types as well, but enjoy these in the morning.

Thanks for the mug recommendations. I had a great one from Coles in Oz, but left it there. I actually just picked a mug up at my local supermarket today. I wasn't sure if it was mocrowave safe, but we have an electric tea kettle in my suite and I like the design (http://www.mug-company.com/english/ss_celebrations.htm) (first one on the page) and figured I could deal if it wasn't. I tested it and it is microwavesafe, so yay. Not that you needed to know any of that, but I wanted to share in the tea (and mug!) joy.

I was going with a general tea obsession, really... *snerk* Not to mention the basic personality type...

(You really need to hear the audio 'Omega'. Might help to see 'The Three Doctors' and 'Arc of Infinity' first, but...not only does it have fabulous dialogue and some great thematic stuff about stories vs. reality and how people are remembered vs. who they really were....but Five has a beautiful speech about tea. *snerk*)

I would say Five does, yeah. He's got a lovely little tea speech at the end of 'The Awakening', too...

I think that's the difference. All the Doctors drink tea, but Five has this great need to *talk* about it. *g*
