Happy New Year! God. 2007. Where do these strange new years come from? They always seem so far away, and then suddenly they're here. I think some part of me still thinks it's, like, 1992 or something.
A new year means it's time for new calendars, which is my favorite part of the day. (I have a bit of a thing for clocks and calendars and other time-marking devices.) This year I have the official Doctor Who one from Chandra, and I also have this one, with gorgeous pictures from Alaska. (Look at the one for January, with the northern lights. Preeeetty.)
Hmmm. Now that I'm out of school, one of these days, my brain will shift over from thinking that a new year really begins in August. Won't it?

Date: 2007-01-02 10:11 pm (UTC)I can see the pretty circle that makes, but I guess I'm more of a "start everything off FRESH!" kind of person. Actually, I'd like to see the new year start sometime around February or March, really. Although I'm not sure if I'd like it before or after my birthday... (Dude. On my birthday! Woo!)
Also, having a month be halfway in one year and halfway in the other is the first step towards making that entire month a vacation. ^_^
Now this, I can see the point of. ;)

Date: 2007-01-03 11:18 pm (UTC)Impressive! You'd get a lot of "New Year's party with a little bit of Happy Becca Day thrown in" parties, though.
(As a school-teacher, I have the best birthday ever, because it's the day before an obscure federal holiday. ^_^)

Date: 2007-01-04 04:37 am (UTC)True. But that might actually get me to go to a New Year's party, which I've never been to before. It would still be better than being born on or within a month of December 25th, though. So glad I missed that one.
(I was supposed to be born on Valentine's Day. Narrowly missed that one...)

Date: 2007-01-04 10:05 am (UTC)Yeah -- or worse, being between Christmas and New Year's. My father's birthday is 30 Dec, and he's always hated it.

I'm close enough that would be a problem if I cared about Valentine's Day. So I guess it's one of the benefits of being bitter. ^_^
